Being from the Philly area, I know it's ALL about the hoagie roll. The meat and guts are less important.

When I moved to the D.C. metro area years ago, I ordered a cheese steak and it came with a REAL N.Y. strip steak on a crappy roll......LOL

They recently opened a Philly Steak franchise a town over and when I ordered one, my d*ck was bigger than the whole steak and I'm no "Big Black".

Best in Philly - Joes (formerly Chink's) on Torresdale Ave and Jimmy G's on Broad
Best in DC - South Street Steaks in Bethesda (close copy to Jim's on South Street)

    Neither.

Jim's on 4th and South is the best cheesesteak in the city but ONLY eat there if you can shower immediately afterwards otherwise you smell like Jim's steaks for the rest of the day. Seriously, it's like spraying your clothes with Cheesesteak Febreze.

Otherwise, go to Tony Luke's and toss out the cheesesteak idea altogether and get either a beef and sharp or roast pork and sharp. And ship me one out here to Los Angeles, I pay 3X.

There was another place around 23rd and Passyunk I think but I forget the name.

    Pat's and Geno's both blow.
