    Losing ABC & ESPN
I turn on my TV today and io sends me to an alert channel automatically. It starts going on about how ABC might get pulled from the lineup because they are asking for $40 million more to keep them. They said they already pay $200 million and I might lose ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, Disney, etc.

    What the ****?

Direct Tv doesn't have VS anymore, don't watch it much, but sometimes they have good games on that channel.

It's your servicer and not the networks that are screwing up here. The networks are the ones that source original content and negotiate contracts with sports leagues. The servicers (cable vision, time warner, etc.) simply deliver the product to your house.

Existing cable companies, non-network, already get a premium for sourcing their content. Now that the networks are asking for this premium, which admittedly they never have before, the servicers are playing hardball. I say screw the servicer who is really just an overpriced middle man anyhow. Call your cable company and tell them you want the channels and you don't want the cost passed on to you, or you will switch to dish.

Cablevision sucks big time. Look at who owns cablevision the same idiot that owns the Knicks. The guy can pay Marbury a huge contract but can't dish out money for ESPN. Switch to a dish before it gets worse.

I spent many years working for TWC and this threat gets played out over and over. We even went so far as handing out rabbit ears a few years ago so customers could still get ABC. Never came to that. This will be resolved too. DirectTV vs Versus is a bit different than what's going on with ABC and the cable companies. Don't stress to much about it, neither ABC or the cable company can afford for these channels to go off the air.
