Why are Mets favored over Braves tomorrow?
    901 ATL BRAVES, P: ACTION+110
    902 NY METS, P: ACTION -130

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. — Last year’s Braves phenom Tommy Hanson will start and this year’s phenom Jason Heyward will play right field in Tuesday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Mets at Port St. Lucie, Fla., weather permitting. The forecast is for rain and thunderstorms.

The Braves plan to take four lineup regulars – Brian McCann, Yunel Escobar, Martin Prado, Nate McLouth – and right-field candidate Heyward, whose car-denting and window-shattering homers have been the talk of spring training. First-base prospect Freddie Freeman, Heyward’s good friend, is also scheduled to make the trip.

The Mets will start right-hander Nelson Figueroa and use a lineup that includes new slugger Jason Bay, David Wright, Jose Reyes and former Braves right fielder Jeff Francoeur.

Planned relief pitchers for the Braves include Kris Medlen, Jesse Chavez, Michael Dunn, Chris Resop, James Parr and Manny Acosta.

    Jurrjens’ bullpen session “excellent”

Jair Jurrjens threw his first bullpen session of spring training Monday, and Cox termed it pain-free and “excellent,” albeit lasting only about 15 pitches per trainer’s orders.

The right-hander, hindered by shoulder inflammation in the opening 1-1/2 weeks camp, threw all fastballs Monday. His pitches had zip and good movement, Cox said.

Jurrjens could need at least three more bullpen sessions before pitching in a Grapefruit League game, but Cox believes there’s plenty of time for him to prepare for the season.
Tommy Hanson vs Nelson Figueroa and the Braves are a dog?

er probably because they have better players that are most likely not going to be on the 24 (or is it 25?) man squad.

LOL, well it's the first game of spring training, plus both starters will go 2-3 innings @ the most. And the Braves better hope they improved their bullpen from last year.

Big time money can be made by finding out who is playing their starters and which team is playing their young talent. Or by seeing which team will pitch the better talent that day.

It's preseason baseball, most of the games are tough as hell to figure out to begin with.

D you remember how many injuries the Mets had last year?, they still have much better hitters that the Braves.

I would take Hanson over Figueroa any time of the year. You have a Cy Young candidate vs a garbage pitcher. If the Braves rock Figueroa first inning they will this game. Heyward is going to hit a couple bombs tomorrow.

It is pretty much best pitcher park out there, Hanson will give up nothing but hard to say if Braves get to Figueroa, and Mets should have small advantage the rest of the game.

Me too. If I remember correctly Braves won 70% of their preseason games last year. Bobby Cox is coaching preseason like regular season. He does not play to lose.

you might as well flip a coin, as much chance as you have here, unless you knew how long the starters and starting pitchers are going.

                                                Atlanta is 3-1 in preseason.

Tony I bet Atlanta teams a lot because I listen to the radio and watch local TV coverage of the teams. It's easier to cap 2-3 teams on a yearly basis if you watch most of their games. I feel I have an edge when betting Atlanta or Georgia teams in college football. Also SEC teams. Why do I want to bet the Mariners or the Seahawks which I never get to see?
