the idea is faith, good nature, morality of your own intention.
in a world where we as humans have utmost power over everything God created and temptation thrives i guess the point is to be of upstanding nature. that's what separates us from the beasts, the ability to know right and wrong and live life accordingly. I don't think God is some far off thing in space somewhere. and so what it feels like God doesn't give a shit sometimes, i know mother****ers that are my same blood that don't give a shit. so something doesn't have to be tangible for you to have faith in it.

I mean I see what you're saying but I don't really see what God has to do with it. I consider myself an upstanding citizen. I work for a non-profit with low-income families and youth. I know right from wrong, I have a degree from a good school and I could have a good paying job that means nothing to me, but I enjoy doing what I do making a difference in the lives of kids who need support. Why do I need God for that? Why should it take a promise of everlasting life for me to be a good person? I have faith in people, I have faith in myself, why in the world do I need to have faith in a deity?

What if there were a snapping of fingers that broke the hypnosis?

i'm not necessarily religious but i am spiritual. i do believe in a higher power and things that are sacred and holy and held in high regard as far as purity goes.
you don't have to believe in a deity and i'm not here to convince you or convert or whatever.
my point is, that i believe in God as a creator of all things we can fathom and things we can't. i also believe in the law of polarity and good and evil.

I believe in the "law of attraction" and the "law of intention"...I like what you are doing Stale, keep up this great work you are doing! I have all the same things you do and have worked with handicapped children and the elderly...it's good for the soul and pays more rewards than money, I applaud you

Thanks brother. I come from a religious family, I've just never bought into that aspect of it. That said, they are good people and I feel that that has led to me being a good person and doing good things. I don't make a lot of money but I honestly enjoy going to work every day because of how rewarding it is. One of the worst things about this forum is that the majority of posters think they need to dominate sports gambling (thus making money) to be happy. Happiness does not come from paychecks, it comes from doing good.

Yes, went to church every Sunday too growing up, and sometimes on other days of the week. Being good and fair and honorable in life are all good qualities. I gamble but not really my lifes work. I like the thrill of betting but have always had poor money mgmt. skills with gambling, so I wager small for the most part. At least I admit it...trying to do better but it has been pretty hard to do. I win, then I'll lose it, then I re-up...pretty bad. It's small enough so I still have a home to live in, so I'm happy with that You seem like a good guy amidst lots of degens...

BOL dude. To be perfectly honest, I've been where you are before and the playing small-time and re-upping isn't really gonna win long-term. If you have the money to lose recreationally it's not a big deal, but you probably won't win. I don't play anymore with real money because I know I'm going to lose long-term. I do continue to play poker because I have found an edge there over time. I'm certainly not going to make millions, and to each his/her own, just my 2 cents.

God has nothing to do with it, but for some people they need for there to be a god. To each their own. We all had imaginary friends at some point in our youth. To talk to, to tell our problems to.
I commend you on the great work you do with kids and you are a good person.
Without religion there's gonna be good people who do good things, and bad people who do bad things, but in the name of religion you see really good people do really bad things

Yes, actually I've taken a break from it but I know baseball will change my mind. Contests are cool here too. I need to get the management part down mentally, then I'll be good. I also have played too many parlays and that is over now...didn't go so well

True, management is key. Even if you're one of the majority of guys who lose long-term if you can manage it it's really not that big of a deal. And yeah I'm pumped for baseball season as well. Parlays are in general a very bad idea for long-term profit, but if you're just a gambler they're good fun.

Well, the contests don't really help mentally with MM because you have to make so many plays, but it does help with cappin' skills. Use your points in the book to help with MM.
I don't have the greatest MM because I'm so used to playing with a local for many years where a bankroll is a little different than having cash in an account.

Well actually, THAT part I believe.
As for the rapture, nothing to worry about there because Jesus ain't coming back anytime soon. Since there is no "heaven" above the sky, he is still ascending out into space and into the deepest reaches of the galaxy.

It's amazing that Christianity was built from several of the heathen beliefs & superstitions and greek & roman dieties with alot of symbolism & such, yet all that shit is stupid & christianity is real??? The human mind is complex no doubt, but how can reason & logic & common sense get so lost in its complexity that people really believe fairy tales & mythology when they're an adult. I know the church is a great marketeer but fuk! All I can say is there's gonna be alot of buyers remorse

You know how the fundies explain that? Satan, knowing who and what Jesus would become, created these concepts in the minds of those earlier believers and their mythology, thereby misleading skeptics like you into thinking that Christianity was a copy of those earlier beliefs. I kid you not.
Yep, we're all just puppets in one big ol' tug o' war between God and Satan. Can't we get these guys together to kiss and make up already?

So true, I'm really trying to quit. I HAVE gotten better over the years but I still have the occasional religious argument.
