Not sure about pointing out the USA on a map, but a good 90% of the 7th-graders I had when teaching Texas History could point to a map of the Lone Star State and get within a 20-30 mile radius or so of where towns like Nacogdoches, Goliad, Seguin and Gonzales are. Maybe they should start small with this gal and have her Google her hometown and point to where her house is located. Baby steps first, you know.
