My girlfriend took her grandma, who doesn't drive, to the grocery store. They took her grandmas car. She ran a red light or went through as it was turning red & it was caught by one of the cameras. Her grandma gets a ticket in the mail. Well you know how old senile people are, you'd thought the worst thing ever had happened, she's all to hell. We explain to her it's no big deal.

I have a friend in the DA's office. I told her what happened. The car is in my girls grandfathers name so that's who the ticket came to. He's been dead for 4 years. The DA said "Let em try to get $85 from a dead man!"

I just love how everyone tries to blame the democrats for the majority of the ills in this country now, when the repubs have fuked it all up, starting with the patriot act! The tea party is nothing more than a legal racist right wing movement.

No one is responsible for our liberties getting taken away, the housing bubble, the failed war on drugs & terrorism that has cost billions upon billions but the fukin republicans. The government can, and will, punish you one way or the other, be it in court, financially, or any other way they see fit. The problem you guys have is that you want everyone else to play by the rules except for yourselves. It doesn't work that way. People like myself make the rules. That is my job. People like yourself can also make the rules, if you are appointed or elected to do so. If not, learn to play nicely, because that is your only choice. Stop blaming others for your failures. Anyone who blames a particular political party for their misery is a complete and total idiot. Left Wingers are the worst, but Right Wingers are not far behind. Blame yourselves. President Barack Obama today signed into law legislation that would temporarily extend three controversial Patriot Act provisions that had been set to expire tomorrow.
Congress approved the measure earlier this week, with the House on Thursday voting 315-97 to keep in place the Patriot Act’s “lone wolf,” business records and “roving wiretap” powers until Feb. 28, 2011. The Senate approved the bill by voice vote Wednesday night.

Holland is not a police state. They have the most relaxed police I have ever seen.

The US is borderline fascist. The fact that Obama signed the extremely controversial Patriot Act is further proof that there is only one party in this country, and that the two party system is only there to divide-and-conquer the People. It works. The Divided States are here.

They created a new enemy. They had to, after the Soviet Union fell apart, and achieved it through 9/11. After that it was a piece of cake to have the non-thinking part of the population hand over their freedoms in the name of protection from the enemy.

The US people are too politically uninformed to see what's going on. They have been isolated from the rest of the world, and have not studied the lessons of history. The majority probably thinks fascism could never happen here.

Lots of red tape in Holland. Socialist state for sure. But not a police state in the fascist sense. If I would ever rob a bank, I would do so in Holland. Getting caught is not the end of the world there. Luxurious jails and short sentences. But, while comfortable to an extent, Holland is far from ideal. The people that fled Europe for the shores of America had something very different in mind. Freedom.

Today the US is where corporate fascism is blooming. Which is somewhat ironic, because there isn't as much red tape as in socialist countries. This allowed corporations to take over. The present USA really seeks to intimidate, as well as under-educate, its people into compliance. Keep them dumb, tell them that there are two parties that they can quarrel all day-every day over, and tell them that anybody who looks through their charade is a 'heretic'. The modern word for non-believer is not heretic, but 'conspiracy theorist'. Same effect. Today the minds of the masses are no longer controlled through religion, but through the media. Same idea.

Lincoln warned against corporate fascism. In vain. America has fallen from the high principles set forth by its founding fathers. But as long as those principles stay alive in the minds of the people, that land of envisioned freedom can some day still be claimed. (which is why, I suppose, modern presidents do everything in their power to desecrate the Constitution).

This is a very dark chapter in American history. The English that were defeated by Washington came back as the Fed (bank of England) in 1913. And the Fed (and its cronies) has the American economy in a stranglehold. I can almost guarantee you that Ron Paul, should he ever become powerful enough, will be assassinated. He's the only politician that openly challenges the Fed. The real America has no chance as long as the Fed prints the money. Zero chance. But once the government prints its own money, the sky is the limit to what this country can achieve. Night and day.

re: short stay in jail. Yes, actually we are much more enlightened than the USA who we view as a 3rd world country in terms of rehabilitaion of criminals. You can actually murder someone and get off with 2-3 years, in a prison "on the beach," color TV, and meals of your choice. Maybe it's a matter of choice of terms, I certainly view it as a police state, though.

Almost everyone once viewed America as our best and brightest, but since W came to power we see you as corrupt, war-mongering, oil-thirsty, anti-environment bullies.
