You gotta hold the ring (unless there's going to be some bratty kid carrying it one of those sissy pillow things). You also give the first toast, giving you ample opportunity to reveal all the dirt he hasn't yet told (or probably never will tell) his newly betrothed. And lastly, you have to drag him out there at the last minute kicking and screaming when, cheap rented shoes or not, his feet get a bit too frosty as he entertains thoughts of leaving his bride at the alter and his potential father-in-law with a $20,000 bill.
