    Nike cuts ties with Vick
What in the hell took them so long before they terminated this contract anyways.
    Nike cuts ties with Vick

Nike has terminated its contract with Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. That announcement came hours after the NFL suspended Vick indefinitely following his plea agreement in a dog fighting case.

Nike released a statement late Friday afternoon regarding Vick. “As we have said in previous statements, we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane, abhorrent and unacceptable."

Nike had previously suspended Vick’s contract and the release of the latest Michael Vick shoe, which was supposed to come out this month.

Vick, who is due to plead guilty in federal court on Monday, acknowledged in court papers that he bankrolled gambling on dog fighting and helped to kill some dogs, the Associated Press reported. Vick says he did not, however, place any bets.

“Your admitted conduct was not only illegal, but also cruel and reprehensible. Your team, the NFL, and NFL fans have all been hurt by your actions," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told Vick in a letter.

"Your plea agreement and the plea agreements of your co-defendants also demonstrate your significant involvement in illegal gambling. Even if you personally did not place bets, as you contend, your actions in funding the betting and your association with illegal gambling both violate the terms of your NFL Player Contract and expose you to corrupting influences in derogation of one of the most fundamental responsibilities of an NFL player."

I agree with their decision to wait before terminating the contract. Although Vick was already convicted in the court of public opinion, he had still not yet acknowledged his guilt or been proven guilty. They did put his payments on ice though.

I can only assume it has something to do with the old presumed innocent until proven guilty thing, Dan.

Justice was handed down and the penalty was served. Mr. Vick was punished and now has a chance at making a better new life.

and also saying that they're gonna sit in judgment of others, proclaim from on high and proselytize about whats right wrong good bad moral or otherwise and not allow a chance to present a false facade of their own righteousness to slip by.

Unless ya'll who STILL are condemning Vick are Televangelists or Christian Conservative Republicans or Al Queda I'd expect you to behave better, to have the intelligence to not judge and the self esteem to not have to deride others so as to make it appear that you are holy and without sin.

Dude came up in an environment where dogfighting was accepted. Dude made poor choices of associates and other things. Shut The Fvkk Up already people, dude did time!! Dude was cast low and lost everything. He's on the path to getting some things back JEEZUS you jealous haters, you high and mighty fukkers burn your shoes, go buy a Vick jersey and burn that, throw darts at a Vick pic just do those things QUIETLY. STFU!!!

                                I got a Avatar now.
<------ over there and up some

If she could talk she'd say that you folks hammerin Vick STILL are beating a dead horse which if you really care about animal rights is somewhat a contradiction (though you might say "horse is already dead, not so bad"), if thats really what about this deal upsets you tho...Animal Rights and the Humane treatment of animals...ya'll self annointed Holymen need to look into what becomes of Greyhounds in USA after they're no longer able to race.

And then set fire to Greyhound Racing Tip Sheets or some such thing, in protest.

Avatar Girl would encourage you to give this Vick dude a chance, that at this point in this saga only POSITIVE stuff could possibly come out of this FOR DOGS and that the chances are damn good in fact positive stuff for dogs will come from where this deal has evolved to.

The matter of the young lady's appearance was addressed within another thread wherein jj unveiled his new avatar and the response was nearly unanimously positive. She is sexy, she's Rubenesque or whatever that word is for how women looked in, like, the Victorian era or some shit like the Victorian era, when Shakespeare was kickin' it....might be how you're own great great great great gramma looked, prolly was cuz folks weren't brainwashed back then into believing a woman could only be sexy if she looked like she hadn't eaten in a fortnight. Get with the program, if she appears large its bcuz the alloted avatar space is just 150px by 150freekinpx

Evidence of the truth in this is obvious by the saying "I got no dog in this fight".

Thats a very common saying, has been for much much longer than any of us has been alive. In theory folks mad at Vick should be also going all "California Uber Alles" on people who say that saying.

The Mexican culture is alot more into dog fighting than Southerners...seems to me at least.

While I sort of agree with you, Nike's still helping foreign markets by trying to do business abroad, even if they're trying to be as cheap as possible, since they're another competitor. What I think should be done is the U.S. government mandating minimum wages by such companies buying abroad so that companies trying to pay higher wages or prices don't get priced out when they sell. I would absolutely be willing to pay, say, 50% more for shoes if it meant thousands more impoverished people get to live a somewhat decent life.
