Like once every two weeks? You see a -300 fave and say "oh theres no way they lose that game at home" and just bet the ML. How bad is that if your not doing it day in and day out? More for college where every game matters rather then NBA.

If you do it day in and day out you will loose big. I had Cavs money line the other day, it was around -300 mark and they lost.

Last time I put a big chunck on a ML it was on the cardinals in the playoffs vs the packers and it hit. Think it was +130.

i personally don't think it's worth it to even bet on money lines unless your picking upsets...a friend of mine thinks he knows how to bet..and he'll take 5 game parlays..all with money lines on the favorites..and everytime he wins 4 out of 5 games...honestly its not worth taking 5games..bet 18 to win 24..why not take a two game parlay with the spreads and bet 10 to win 26? seems like common sense to me to take spreads

As long as you have a bankroll to support these types of plays. I think you are right when you are talking college - in pro sports there are way to many upsets. You are usually talking about a 7 point favorite having to win outright you just have to watch the books will make the odds worse as the money lines go up. Make sure if you are going to bet -300 the other side is at least +280

Nothing wrong with laying -300 if the fair price is -330.

if there is value in a -900 ml due to inefficiencies with the market and you see it at as +ev over the LONG term you should win.

I have to account for my emotions in gambling too though. So I cap my ml favs at -200 in nfl -200 in hoops and -150 in baseball. because if I lose a big moneyline I KNOW that there is a chance i'll go on tilt and chase.

I think the majority of my plays are dogs. I get as many good home dogs as I can with value, and live road dogs.

gotta pick your spots, know your style, and don't neglect the math

-300 is way more likely to materialize as a win than -8

its rare to find value on a favorite moneyline, they get more inflated the higher the spread. Easier to find value in dogs anyway

I just did it last week in the SBR book......a lot of times the fav will cover the line. In this case the Jazz won by 11 on the road and covered the line.
