This is a guarantee. After all the hype, Canada has to win Gold at this year's Olympics. It doesn't matter how much fixing it will take, but it's a guarantee they win. This is one of those sports which is very different from the rest of the Olympic sports. These aren't poor athletes who have trained for the past 5 or 10 years just to compete in an olympic games. These are mostly highly paid athletes where their regular seasons mean more than these games. It is almost meaningless to them. The only motivation the american team has is that they are just sick of Canada thinking they own hockey. There's no sense of 'I've been training for this, day and night for the past 4 years. I won't let my country down.' They lose, they go back to their country, make good money, etc...
Canada has much more motivation, but most importantly, it will be fixed beyond belief. Expect Canada to win Gold in a very close and magical game. Maybe it will be a come from behind victory. Maybe it will be a last minute shot. Maybe it will be an OT win. But this is a guarantee. Canada will do anything to win this. They have been hyping it up for FOUR YEARS STRAIGHT on our TV stations.
