I've never used a local. But I have a few friends that use one, and have never heard of anyone being stiffed or having trouble being paid...

My local is the most stand-up guy I know. I have been with him for over 10 years. I was introduced to him through a fellow player. For the first little while he had me on a limit just to make sure I wasn't slow pay & just to get to know my playing style. Always talked to me like he'd known me forever.
When you choose a bookie you need to be more selective than when hiring a babysitter. If he doesn't do the things like I just sais that means he doesn't care if he's gonna get paid, which in return means he doesn't care if you get paid.

He has been in business for over 25 years. He has a strict set of rules he follows & you can count on him like the sun coming up every morning. He pays on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, depending on which day you can get together with him. He's always accessible. I'd say I trust him probably more than anyone I know. Probably the only person who has never lied to me!
I've known him so long now I go over to his house & cook-out & we talk about games & how we can take some money off the islanders. I have refered some players to him & I am responsible for them for the first 6 months. After that if he continues to keep them as a player I'm out of it!

90% of my wagers are thru a local.. Never any problems.. Never.. We settle up every Tuesday afternoon.. I've never had a limit.. Maybe if i ever went real deep in the hole, but he's never tried to cap my bet amounts.. Never had a problem getting paid either..

I had one and he left the game and moved to Hawaii. I use 5dimes and betjamaica but I want to use a local right now as well.

And no Im not a stiff. If I could rid the world of stiffs, I would. They disgust me to the core of my being.

My guy is older & retired, this is all he does. I just feel more comfortable with an older dude that aint out blowin' money on whores & coke.

There are pros & cons with locals, but the pros outweigh the cons. Of course you're gonna have your offshore for everything the local can't do. I just do better with weekly credit, I play more relaxed knowing a bad night hasn't killed me and I have to reload. My average play is $4-500 a game. He has paid me $3,000 plus a week many many times and doesn't blink an eye. He has a huge player base and I don't try to rape him, we'll actually go in together & play offshore.

He makes a killin' and he actually got me into running parlay cards. He hadn't done it in a while & had alot of players wanting them so he let me have his clientele for a little juice & I built on it & was runnin' a hell of a biz on just parlay cards through the clubs & bars around town.

Supposedly some have been paid, but theres been literally thousands of reports of problems with checks, debit cards, guys waiting in line at the local 7-11, dude ate a rancid piece of chicken and couldnt show up for work, it literally gives new meaning to the word absurd what these clowns has had written about them online from day 1.

Never played with them, but Ive read so much crap Im beyond disgusted with them.

If you don't mind waiting 2.7 years to receive your 140 dollars, and you dont mind dealing with a book with no physical address and phone number...

and if you dont mind worrying about waking up one day and the site isnt even up anymore becuase they were finally raided by the FBI...

And if you dont worry about identity theft or fraud....
