    Vegas Questions
Hey Guys. I will be going to Vegas for the 1st time in mid-March for 4 days, 4 nights to celebrate my parents 50th Birthdays. I will be staying at Caesars Palace.
I will be arriving Saturday night and leaving Wednesday night. Kind of sucks, because I just miss the start of March Madness. Oh well.

I will be spending time in the sportsbooks with my brother in law and my Dad. Granted, I will be doing other things while I'm there, but definately plan on making wagers and watching for a while. I know nothing about the sportsbooks in Vegas. Since I'm staying at Caesars, should I be betting there or shopping around. I will probably be betting around $100 a game. Will this entitle me to free drinks or any other comps?

Any kind of help for a Vegas noob would be much appreciated.

$100/game will get you free drinks. No comps beyond that....

depends on where you play. joints that use leroys or luckys aren't going to give you s_hit because the book has nothing to do with the casino bars.

many books don't give you s_hit.

if they do give you some drink coupons, it will be for WELL drinks not call drinks. I usually just hide the coupon and order a call drink then once they make it whip it out them (the coupon that is). the bartenders get pissed but they usually will give you the drink since they made it. only works once!

and also, be aware NO BOOKS IN TOWN WILL LET YOU BUY MORE THAN 1 POINT.

Thats ok chris.....I generally don't buy points.

I just want to know that I can knock a few back for free while watching a game for a couple hours.
My brother-in-law will probably only be betting $20-$25 a game, and he wants to know if he would expect to get drinks, or would he be buying?

well most comps come after the fact, you will have to register to get a players card, you will have to give them the card every time you place a bet. When I go to Atlantic City, I spend around 250 to 500... and I can check my points and earn money off of food/drinks stuff like that. if your sitting at a table, they will comp drinks... however... they want you to drink and not care...lol.. till you get home! and you will start receiving coupons in the mail for the Casino and even reduced room rates... 100.00 bet wont get yah too far... but enjoy the environment... it's exciting... (oh, stay away from the dirty hoes... not worth the price...lol.. )

When I am in town, I stay and play at Planet Hollywood. Last year they changed their drink policy in the book so that you only get one drink coupon for each $50 or bigger bet. I hope they have changed it back, but that was the last I saw there. If all you're worried about are free drinks, I would say that the PH sportsbook is a pass.

My last trip(3 months ago) played a couple races - 25-not much more-wagered a couple games-less than 100.00. and the writers gave me a drink toke-every wager. Back in the day we gave i toke per 5 wager- when Caesars was Caesars. Shoot at Harvey's this weekend - the girls came around every 10 min. As it should be. Anyway have fun! expect nada-and good luck to you.

Reg, take your parents to The Steak House at Circus Circus for a champagne brunch on Sunday.. Great food, great champagne to celebrate, and def worth the price.. Not that expensive at all.. It will be a great way to celebrate with them on your first full day in Vegas.. Hope you have a great trip..

Have fun in Vegas! You'll love it and want to go back soon. At least you will be there for conference championships and there's still the NBA and NHL. The casinos are quite a walk from each other, but it's probably worth shopping for the best line. I usually make my bets and go off and do other things. Maybe bring your laptop with you and look at some sites and you can see what the lines are at many casinos.
