Why do less college kids get hurt?
I know this isn't the best time to make this thread with McCoy, Bradford, and Tebow all going down at some point but it seems like as a whole college stars seem to go our with injuries less then NBA or NFL stars even though the college kids play harder.

Why? Less games? Kids can't sit out and get paid? Tougher? Opponents are often a step slower and not as big? Or is it the old saying that if you don't play hard you will end up getting hurt?

IMO. They play less games and are younger, so less inclined to injury.

Yes but they are younger by a few years and a bit less conditioned then these pro athletes for the most part. Or should I dare say maybe steroids?

And the younger factor may play into it as well.

I'm talking stars as a whole. Just look at Kobe, Rose, Melo, Garnett all missing time.

I'm talking guys like Collins, Aldrich, Wall, etc. I know some guys probably get hurt and you don't see it on ESPN but if these guys miss a game we will know about it.

The seasons are longer. It grinds on your body more. There is also less "breaks" like there is in bowl season and tournament time.

College guys are still basically the same size as each other, so very few ray lewis on Ocho hits. 260+lbs of muscle running into a 190+lb fast guy. Not many of those collisions in college. Eric Berry can hit, but he is not going to hurt anybody without killing himself.

but the seasons still aren't nearly as long. I'm sure youth has something to do with it too. I watched my 5 year old niece this weekend do a somersault off the couch landing flat on her back on the hard floor and she bounced up laughing. That would have ruined me for a week.

younger, and in football less speed and size the collisions are less violent, as well as a higher % of artificial surface creates more injuries.
