Seems people at my company think I'm ready to just stop everything I'm doing to answer an e-mail after hours. I've purposely not answered any e-mails all weekend or today for the holiday.

Anyone have to play these games at their job also?

Not my current one fortunately. I have had jobs where this was expected though, not very fun.

If they do you can expect to be compensated accordingly.

I understand I probably receive like 30-40 emails every day, all work related

I bet you get hounded all day and night, paco. Unless you're flipping on a larger scale and only have to deal with a few guys.

At my last job, yes. I would get phone calls 15 minutes after an email went out if I hadn't responded. Day, night, lunch, weekends, didn't matter. I was paid very well for it, but it still got old.

Thankfully my company's MS Outlook is linked directly to their server, locking me out indefinitely. If I had total access, that would truly suck due to the amount of email received thru various clients. Time consumption of mail reply's usually eats up 1 - 1 1/2 hours of my day alone.
