I swear evertime the ball goes in I look at the score waiting for it to change only to find out it already had. I don't get it. This is one of the the great unknowns in our society.

The score does not change until after the ball goes into the hoop man

this was my first night watching a TNT game, and after spurs scored a 3 i was watching the score counter for a whole 10 seconds waiting for it to change, and thought it was slow as fukk. then on the next score i realized it had changed already.

obviously on first instinct it would seem like they know the scores already, but i'd assume it was just done with sensors in the hoop that could be turned on and off accordingly and changed for FTs etc..

No, it's the score keeper in Denver. He is the quickest mutherfuker in the league. He changes scoreboard quicker then hooker on her next trick. Some scorekeepers are real slow like in NY but this guy is unreal. If you blink he'll change the score immediately. I have 2 tv's going and one is paused 10 seconds later just so I can see the score before he updates it.

This shit must be on delay. I've been looking at the score before they shoot more than watching the shot.

sometimes the score changes before the bucket if they have a easy layup or dunk, but other than that just real quick

All sports are broadcast on a 5 second delay, so the play you are watching happened 5 seconds ago.
