anyone a day trader around here? My freind says he is going to start day trading. Says it is a guarantee, any thoughts?

Me too. Daily swings are still way too big for my liking. When every wave is huge, it means there is a storm. People are looking for anything to grasp, and today they found something positive. I prefer calmer waters to surf and pick my own wave.

Beware of anybody starting a difficult venture and thinking it is a guarantee.

I trade periods, of under two weeks, which is where I like to be in terms of my emotional life. Not interested in the day-to-day craziness. Day trading is very stressful. It would have been nice to trade the volatility of the past weeks, though.

Day trading is high risk investing. If you have a high risk section in your investment strategy, why not make it sports betting?
