What do you think? We got Stephen Ames in the final group with Tiger. Do you cheer for him?

Do you cheer less than you would for Mike Weir because Ames is a naturalized Canadian? Do you cheer more because Weir just happened to be born here but Ames had to go out of his way to become Canadian?

If Ames wins and becomes the second Canadian to win a major, would there be an asterisk because he's originally from Trinidad and Tobago?

(I'm getting visions of jjgold stumbling in and posting the screamingly obvious, that Tiger will probably win. Of course. The odds are greatly stacked against Ames.)

But I'll be cheering for him. He wants to be a hoser so he's a hoser in my book. No asterisk if he becomes the second Canadian to win a major.

There should be no asterisk since I think we should make Trinidad the 11th province. That will give us Canadians our own Puerto Rico ..... And no passports to get some sunshine... it's win win.... I already got my win for the tourney with verplank so now I can cheer for Ames.

        Mud,
I'll be cheering for him. Anyone who wants to be a hoser, is ok in my book. Besides he's a better golfer than Weir, so he'll be more consistently in contention in the big events. Plus i like how he tells it like it is, even if he occassionally puts his foot in his mouth!

I'm not from Canada so I am very neutral regarding this subject, sort of like Switzerland.

In the golf tournament there are sub-category's that can be wagered on such as leading Australian golfer in that particular tourny, leading European, leading U.S. players not including Tiger, etc.

Mr. Ames is lumped into the category referred to as "Rest of World" which includes countries such as Argentina, Korea, Fiji, and yes, Canada.

Therefore, to me it makes no difference whether he is classified as Canadian or Trinidad and Tobagoan. He will always be known as "Rest of World" to me.
