Kobe makes $23.84 million a year
Kobe makes $290,731 thousand a game
Kobe makes $7,579 thousand per minute on court
Kobe makes $126 per second on the court

The later is quadrupole what 95% of SBR posters make a hour

    Depressed? Uhhhh... no.

They are worth as much as people are willing to pay to go see them. They are amazing, unbelievable athletes.

This. Kobe is an amazing athlete. In a market such as LA? "Deserved"? this amount of money?? I don't know that I would go that far but if any deserve it, Kobe does I guess.

Most people can't grasp, can't relate to the kind of money that the top athletes make...in terms of understanding actually how much money 23 Million dollars really is...the ability to have anything that you want, as soon as you see it.

Like that new Fender Guitar iPhone(?)...woodgrain...Eric Clapton is on the commercial....

My only real problem with it, and what some actors and actresses make, like, $10 MIL a movie and such, is that our priorities as a society are wrong. Teachers, Cops, Firefighters and Nurses should be paid better. Not MILLIONS mind you of course but if anyone deserves MONEY for what they do it would be these people. I know thats "cliche", unoriginal...but in my eyes its true.

People are honestly stupid, especially sports fans. It makes me furious to see athletes making so much. They do not deserve it. I can't even go into it right now because I'm so angry.

yes, i agree with you. the entertainment industry (sports are included here) is complete bullshit, playing on people's fantasies and primal instincts, and these people get paid more than anyone should deserve. Athletes are genetically superior in their respective sports. They are lucky that is all. Actors and actresses are generally good looking. Genetics again, also luck. A normal joe can work twice as hard as these guys and still be no where.

I've said it before and I'll say it a fukking gain. Life is just a mix of genetics, childhood environment, and luck. You don't have a say in 90% of it.

yea its pretty ****kking stupid, especially when you consider the tens or hundreds of millions they get on the side to make us wanna buy shoes and shit... rediculous.

what cracks me up is that most of em are so stupid and arrogant that eventually they lose it all and end up working at burger king, motivational speaking, or some wack salary job because they dont realize that they can only make that amount of money for a decade or so..

at the end of the day they end up living like we do.. just have a few decades of fun before going to rehab

The people who are really overpaid are the employees of Target Stores. Particularly the Assistant Managers. These people do nothing, they sit on their ass in an office most of the day the only exception being when they're out in back of the store smoking weed or sleeping on a pallet of Huggies. Worthless these people I swear, they should be paying the store for giving them a place to go 5 days a week.

I have no problem with an athlete making a billion dollars over the length of his contract if the free market allows it.The problem is,for almost every single athlete making a huge salary, they are getting tax payer welfare. The owners of 99% of the teams keep getting new stadiums and people who don't go to games even have to pay increases in sales taxes and other taxes to subsidize the teams. If a player makes 10 million bucks in a year, probably 3 million of it is welfare. Then teams such as the Cowboys with owner Jerry Jones use eminent domain to remove anyone they want from their property to build a stadium wherever they want.In fact, the stadium in Washington,DC for the Nationals used federal tax dollars to be built. They should call themselves the National socialists and they truly are america's ''burden''team.Joe Mauer for the Twins is ready to sign a big contract with the Twins for the upcoming season when they move to their new stadium that's tax payer subsidized. So now he's getting welfare there an he also was gifted with a GM ''Government Motors''car dealership so he's on the welfare dole there too.Joe is a double dipper welfare recipient.

It's too bad we don't have a true free market where no one gets welfare and then the taxes would be low where a person could afford building their own stadium. If Jerry Jones had paid for his new stadium himself and would have complained that he's going broke paying taxes,I would have felt sorry for him and taken his side.Same goes for Steinbrenner with the Yankees who is also like the Nationals where he got local, state and federal tax payer dollars to support their hobbies of owning a team. They are the two biggest welfare recipients in the country.Derek Jeter is a nice, clean cut all american boy but he still collects welfare.

Not many people make so much money at something they enjoy so much. It only will depress me if I wouldn't be able to either, regardless of pro athletes.

yes it does, Pro athletes are soo fukking selfish, holding out for extra million or 2, getting contracts for couple hundred million, at 19 years old, holding out for money, give me a fukking break

No athlete is worth 1 million let along 25 million......give them all 1 million, which is a lot, and the rest can hel the fukking economy
