They do it on MNF. They say take the Pats -3.5. In my country they even pop a take punt live bet option at half time. Its rediculous

They aren't allowed to talk about it in the US because it's illegal. I wouldn't say allowed, just taboo. Everyone knows what it's all about they just can't come out & say it.

Would anyone watch ESPN 24 hours a day or the NFL channel if they weren't looking for an edge. Gambling is HUGE revenue & powers billions of dollars in other industries

Of course it should.. The more it is out in the open, (with sports casters & whoever) the more acceptable it becomes.. The more acceptable it becomes, the better our chances are of having it legal.. However, I do not see this anywhere in our near future, but like TheProfit said, its because its considered taboo..

The leagues are scared to death that public talk of it will illegitimize the sport, people will think that games are rigged. Old people like my mom for sure. She takes one sentence from 10 years of conversation out of context & her mind is made up on something. That's how people are. People who don't even watch football or could not care less about football & people who don't gamble would start raising hell about & going on TV if it was made a big deal about the link between the 2 industries.

It takes very little to get a ****suckin' preacher and about 3,000 baptists riled up condemning something they know nothing about and next thing you know you're trying to fight the goddamn republican party!

NFL knows it needs gambling to keep their industry alive & vice versa for the gambling industry, legal & not legal. They must co-exist but to never look as an entity in one although one can't survive without the other. But they know if they let the public perceive this it will be the ruin of them both.

I live by one simple rule. You worry about what you're doin' & I'll worry about what I'm doin'!

What if you wanted to quit gambling and you were watching the game with your son or something and odds pop up on screen at half time (which they do a lot here in Australia)I think you would have to quit watching any sport wat so ever because of it and kids dont need to learn about gambling either for that matter.

There's nothing wrong with gambling! People are going to do what they want & the more you you try to shelter children from something the more they want to do it. If the legal drinking age was 18 & not 21, I guarantee the % of teenage drinking deaths would be half!

I've actually thought about this before... Ive thought its kind of odd they will make betting suggestions on TV when technically placing wagers on games is illegal.

But then again its legal in Nevada and Nevada is part of the US so whatever.

The whole "gambling is illegal" bullshit is truly laughable. You can gamble anywhere and everywhere without any problem.

I'm a drinker, smoker, womanizer, & gambler. I understand laws & to live in this country you obey their rules, it's like living under your parents roof, I understand it. It's this "moral" *hit that pisses me off. Don't get me started on organized religion & how it's the downfall of humanity!!! If you don't like something I'm doing, by all means tell me & I'll tell you to go *uck yourself! But when you tell me the invisible made beleive man in your head doesn't like what I'm doing I'll upper cut you in the taint!
