Say what you want about "The Brat" (and I say a lot of things), Helmuth sure has a knack for running deep in these WSOP bracelet events.
Would you prefer your own personality and poker skills, or get Phil's skills but also be stuck with his personality?
Option 1 for me thanks.

Ha-ha. I go back to one stmt I heard from a Vegas dealer some years ago:
*I actually think Phil is a nice guy. This is 98% act.
*Dealer told me that Phil told his agent that he was going to change his image. Was going to lose the "poker brat" and become a "nice guy" (more in the Negreanu vein). Agent told him that he would lose more than $1Mill per year.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

I would love to see a Hellmuth vs Polk heads-up event (similar to the Polk vs Negreanu series). But I don't think Hellmuth would ever do it. Polk would roast Phil (as long as Doug didn't soft-play him).

I've never met Helmuth, but the consensus from the people I've spoken to who know him is that he's a nice guy away from the felt.
I 'get him', he's driven.
What's that old song, "He's not a bad boy, he's just ambitious."

Oh God, can you imagine the chatter between Polk and Danny?
10 minutes of chit-chat for every one minute of card playing.
Especially if Polk goes into that "let's see, what's in his range, A-3, 2-4, 10 J," spiel of his.
Yeah, Doug, we get it, play the hand already, you're killing me here.

Polk took $1.2M off DNegs in the 2021 challenge:
1) It was good theatre.
2) Betting odds tell it all. Polk was something like a -500 Fav going into it.
3) I DON'T believe it was open-discussion. They played two hands simultaneously in separate rooms.
4) It was pretty well done. Very entertaining.
5) Dnegs thought he ran bad in Draw situations. Maybe so, but I think Dnegs would even admit that he was on the short-end.
Poker-community should have more events like that. Would increase the exposure.

Yeah, I just read last night that Kristen took that thing down. I've been up to my ass around here with side distractions, and I'm starting to fall behind on these things.
Good on her, she's genuinely one of the good ones, with all these 'black eyes' like the Texas illegal card rooms, the Hustler club in LA cheating scandals, the solvers at the table controversy, we can use a lot more good eggs like Kristen.
High, very high on my bucket list is to get out there and be a part of the Series.
It doesn't have to be the main event.
a) I'd be overwhelmed
b) I can't justify the 10k entry fee, even if I were a multi-million-dollar millionaire, and I'm not, I'd still have a problem justifying that entry fee.
That's just me, though; it's the way I'm made up, it's who I am.
Having said that, I do want to play in a 600-dollar deep stack or a 400-600 dollar (Do I dare say it?) Senior event.
The last time I checked, I'm over 50 years old and less than 100, and still, thank Christ, drawing breath
So, I do meet the age requirements.
OMG, I need a moment to sob.
I just realized that I'm officially older than dirt.
Every year, I intend to go, and every year it's always some clusterfuck that prevents that.

Yeah, that's the way to go.
I was looking at the structure for the Seniors ME.
120-minute levels, I'd be patient to start and pick my spots.
With 200 BB starting, you have to be patient; no tourney has ever been won in Level one, correct?
What's up with The Grinder?
I haven't heard from him lately.

The pros all late reg at the WSOP because the stacks are so deep that the risk of getting knocked out or crippled is so much more than the possible reward of picking up some extra green chips. So, yeah, if you're going to play the early levels it's probably best to play super conservative in the beginning.
Hellmouth was at Rivers and I heard he was begging for money for to play cash games
I heard he doesn't tip for anything either

I'm not saying that people can't improve at poker, but I played a cash game with him over 20 years ago and I was shocked at how poorly he played. He lost his '89 main event winnings to Chip and Doyle, so it's conceivable he lost his recent tourney winnings to today's high stakes players.
He def. crushes tournaments, though.

I'm strictly a tournament player now. I will play PL Omaha, but not NLHE cash games.
