I agree AND disagree. My view on the NFL scheduling:

1) The game that needs to be eliminated = THUR nite FB.
...Football is a game of Collision/Recovery/Preparation. If you haven't played it, you don't know.
...It's not designed to Play/Travel/Game-plan and play again after three days rest. Very bad.

2) THUR should be limited to the Thx-giving Day games ONLY.

3) I don't mind the SUN morning European game. Fans build it into their morning window.
...I'm waiting for the NFL to go full bore into the European expansion.
...It's logistically possible to place two teams in Europe. Expand the AFC/NFC East by one team.

4) As for MNF, think back to when they started it. Joe Namath on the first broadcast.
...When there was LESS tv-exposure, the MNF game was must-see TV.

5) I see where the East/West Double-headers were too much.
...I really didn't mind it. Made for a nice extension to the week.
...If anything, it was difficult on the East Coast viewer. Games extended deep into the nite.

I've played pick-up games of tackle football, but not organized football.

I was an HS and D2 catcher, bats have concussed me to the head, and collisions at the plate.

IAN, remember how big the MNF game used to be? Think back to Howard/Don/Giff in the booth.

That was real TV. I liked Al Michaels' call, too. A great broadcaster made the event (for me).

The problem with 2 games on same night is they couldn't get two good match ups for ESPN. It all has to do with the match ups. If there was a Cowboys/Giants and Bears/Packers in the double header the ratings would have been match better. Instead they had match ups no one wanted to see.

When we were kids, if the game didn't feature your favorite team, we'd tune into the best matchup/most compelling game available.

Now, we'd watch a Jets/Cardinals game if we had a wager on the total, or if the game had fantasy football implications.
