For me Argentina is best team in the world 9 to 1 is massive odds for them to win. Messi had perfect preparations for this world cup playing.

I think Portugal / Spain and France are the teams to beat. Messi's supporting cast isnt as good as 4 years ago and Brazil are sending one of their weakest teams in a long time.

It would be a shame if he isnt fit by next month. He is one of the brightest stars in the game today.

Yes, sir. Franz, my amateur view on the teams you listed above:

                    1) I'm highest on SPAIN. Fluid team, low-risk of blowing up. But I'd like to hear that Lamal is cleared to play.

                    2) I'm not high on Portugal. I know they produce players. Mentally, I wonder if CRon is a hindrance.

                    3) I know France is good. Real Madrid melted in La Liga, I'm not an Mbappe guy. FRA has melted b4, could happen again.

Chalky parlay for qualify out of group stage seems kind of locky with this format?

                      Germany/France/England/Belgium/Japan/USA/Canada pays +102

Can anyone see any one of them not progressing out of groups? Hard to envisage any of them collapsing so badly to not get out of groups imho.

I like it, Opti. So many of the big-names are virtual locks to advance. My asterisks:
                        1) USA: Should be primed to win the Group on home soil. If you ask around, sentiment isn't too high. Looked bad in tuneup-games...and players are viewed as overpaid brats.

                        2) CANADA: Similar on the home-soil. Big advantage, but Canada was gifted a bid to the World Cup. They don't always make it.

Spain had a better team in 2022 and shit their pants.
Now they think they are favorites because they have Yamal.
He's a terrible shot and possession waster.
The defense is terrible, bunch of dumb little Spanish kids at every position.

                            There's no value on them.

Some teams need to make excuses why they didn't win. Some people look for a negative to grab onto.

SPAIN - THE Euro 2024 Champions.....

                              And some just win trophies

No need to listen to the hate , just watch them play. If you aren't impressed at the cohesive flow of their game , perhaps soccer isnt for you.

They play " The Beautiful Game "

*Well said, Franz. I know you're a student of Futbol history. It goes thru phases were certain teams like BRAZ/NED/ITA control the style.

Last 20 years, SPA has surely been the most consistent team. They figured out the tiki-taka and have deployed it over multiple generations.

Controlling the ball with short passes wears out a defense. Opponents feel exhausted.
