My logic on why I'm backing these sides:
*MEXICO carries an unusually strong HFA for this game. Fans should be mental. Mexican radio.
*USA on home soil. I love that they aren't generating any buzz. The USA starters are very well-paid, they rate as a decided Fav here. Paraguay has little name recognition, and their ball possession was low in qualifying. If Paraguay take points here, it will be b/c they are a more cohesive unit.
*I'm OK laying some chalk w/ Switzerland. Swiss should be well-organized. Qatar benefited from playing a ton of home games in recent tournaments.
*Talent gap btw Braz/MAR isn't as big as people think. Morocco won U-20 last year, country on the rise. Morocco will expect to have a good tournament and make the Final 8.
*Feel like Haiti is one of the teams that benefited from CONCACAF having the tri-hosts. They normally wouldn't have made it. And Scotland has some good quality.
*Japan beat Braz in lead-up. Just a friendly, but beating BRAZ is no joke. Feel like Japan has progressed beyond just being an occasional giant-killer.
*IvC/ECU looks pretty even to me. Like the set-up, backing the Elephants.
*View Tunisia as an upset threat. Don't feel good about SWE as a favorite.
*Feel pretty confident on Spain as a banker play. +8% ROI with low default risk.
*Iran/NewZeal DRAW ties out to my wide-angle lens on Iran playing on true enemy soil. Not saying there will be an event. Just think their heads may be elsewhere, could drop pts (vs lesser foe).
*Senegal: Papa Bouba Diop lives? SEN declared independence from FRA in 1960, they will be very familiar w/ FRA. The French have blown up in the past, could it happen again?
*Iraq: playing the fat line. Been a while since NORWAY played in a World Cup.
*Algeria: Playing the anti-Messi angle (especially as Defending World champs). ALG look live to me.
*DR Congo: Similar on anti-CRonaldo. Beware of the big-name aging star that needs touches.
*Panama: I have followed Ghana closely over the years, this is not a top Ghana side. They missed the last AFCON, the young talent isn't there. Some of the prolific attackers are gone, and Kudus injured.

I bet sides and totals and throw in some parlays from time to time. So i take the 3 pages of 1st round odds , and place 24 units of wagering , with a 2 unit limit on any wager ?
