New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is in critical but stable condition after being shot in Midtown Manhattan on Sunday.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed a 29-year-old was wounded in a shooting, but did not identify Boyd as the person who was shot. The New York Post first reported that the Jets cornerback was shot. The Jets said in a statement that the team is “aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

The shooting was reported around 2 a.m. Sunday on West 38th Street, according to an NYPD spokesperson. Police said the victim sustained a wound to the abdomen and was transported by emergency services to Bellevue Hospital.

There have been no arrests, and an investigation is underway, per the NYPD. West 38th Street remains closed to vehicle and foot traffic between Seventh Avenue and Broadway.

The team is not playing Sunday, after losing to the New England Patriots on Thursday.

Boyd, who has been on injured reserve since sustaining an injury in training camp, signed a one-year deal with the Jets in March. He previously played for the Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.

Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson posted on X on Sunday, asking for “prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family.”

    (2) Jermaine Johnson II on X: "Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!! Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely. In your name, Amen" / X
