Sad..RIP
He was in some great movies. Hard to pick a favorite but I love "The Sting".Comment -
One of his first scenes. A young Robert in THE TWILIGHT ZONE. So young that he's almost un-recognizable:

He directed ORDINARY PEOPLE and won an Oscar for it. It was a great film:
*Noteworthy for not having a lot of action shots.
...It was more about character portrayal.
...He wanted Timothy Hutton to be edgy on-screen. So, he told the other actors to not talk to Tim off-set.
...Robert advised Judd Hirsch (the shrink) to be the only one to talk to Tim off-set. It worked. Tim connected with Judd on-screen...and was mostly distant to the other characters.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
Who can forget Roy Hobbs?
Redford was only three years younger than Brimley. But he looked at least 20 years younger.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
Nice to see everyone loving on The Sting, even over Butch and Sundance.

*The Sting was a great movie. Even if the scheme was a little far-fetched.Originally posted by Optional
