    Little League World Series
OK, this may be a 'Homer discussion topic' and if you want to label me an attention whore (just this one time, lol)I'm fine with that.

How about our hometown, Fairfield, Connecticut, kids?

Last night, they shut out perennial powerhouse Texas 1-0, which some that cover the LLWS consider a monumental upset.

Those aren't my words, but when you consider that Texas is almost 11x larger than our state, yeah, that's huge.

The ten US regional winners are competing for the championship.

Great Lakes Region: Clarendon Hills LL (Clarendon Hills, Illinois)

Metro Region: Fairfield National LL (Fairfield, Connecticut)

Mid-Atlantic Region: Glenmoore Eagle LL (Upper Uwchlan Township, Pennsylvania)

Midwest Region: Sioux Falls LL (Sioux Falls, South Dakota)

Mountain Region: Summerlin South LL (Las Vegas, Nevada)

New England Region: Braintree American LL (Braintree, Massachusetts)

Northwest Region: Bonney Lake/Sumner LL (Bonney Lake, Washington)

Southeast Region: Irmo LL (Irmo, South Carolina)

Southwest Region: Lamar LL (Richmond, Texas)

West Region: Honolulu LL (Honolulu, Hawaii)

        I saw that.
Baseball is huge, too, in your parts.
Nice win earlier, I was watching some of that.
I like the double elimination format.

This is the third trip to the WS for Fairfield in the last 15 years.
Considering we're a tiny town compared to the California and the Texas teams, that's mind-boggling.
We can't play baseball 12 months of the year like the Southwest teams do. We get snow for four months.

We do love our baseball, though.

Game time, we have another tall task in front of us.
That Hawaii team is a tough out.

          Monday 8/18

          Summerlin v. South Carolina
          Fairfield v. South Dakota

          Connecticut got a shitty 'bracket'
First were slotted with Texas in Game 1, and knocked them off via shutout.
Then, against Hawaii in Game 2, we knocked them off, too.

          The incredible dream continues tomorrow.

good thread. also how can this be true?? over the years many of these early round games are super lopsided. isnt every game 11-0. and all top teams have a stud player or two. Mexico has played in 37 of these and won and those are multiple games.

Mexico has appeared in the Little League World Series a total of 37 times. This includes their upcoming appearance in the 2025 tournament, marking the 37th participation. Mexico has also won the championship three times

            yesterday
Gregorio Madrid, playing for Mexico in the 2025 Little League World Series, is the first player from Mexico to hit multiple home runs in a single game during the tournament, according to espn

                Mexico is dangerous.

I love this year's tournament so far, but I'm a homer.
There was no chance in hell 'tiny' Fairfield would beat Texas, they all said.
Then our kid (Pelligrini) SHUT THEM OUT.
Same with Hawaii, they struggled to score.

If (God forbid) Connecticut gets knocked out, then I'll root for MJ's kids.
                Those Summerlin kids can rake.

Yeah, Try3x, great tournament this year.
The pitchers are cracking 80 MPH on the slow radar gun.
That's unheard of, when I was catching in little league back in the days when your pal Nasher had a full set of hair and the T. rex grazed for grass in my daddy's back yard, no pitcher was cracking 60 MPH.
I never caught an 80 MPH fastball until I was sixteen.

Be thankful they don't allow the Dominican Republic to play s8 up!! Yet they would be considered the Caribbean Region. Thank god for Panama and Venezuela. Notice the DR has no interest in this tournament? Guess they don't want anyone to know anyone's real age???? Yet they dominate all MLB rosters. Next time u r up by 5 in a MLB game and lose u no why. These kids don't go to school they play baseball all day everyday. Why hitting below your weight and IQ is allowed today.. USA USA USA

Incredible, amazing ending to the South Dakota-South Carolina.
Very sketchy umpiring in the sixth inning as the HPU, for reasons unknown, shrank the strike zone.

                              Summerlin is the play tonight.
The two best teams left in the US bracket are Las Vegas and Fairfield.
Las Vegas ran into a buzz saw yesterday.
Nevada should annihilate Carolina tonight, setting up a rematch.

I'm looking for an alternative run line, like -1.5 runs to drive that juice down.

I'm unable to find betting lines for the domestic games here in Connecticut; the college rules also apply to Little League, which means you can't bet on hometown schools like Yale, Fairfield, UCONN...

By the time you get to the regional winners, most of them should be hard to beat.

When Gallegos got up to the plate with that look in his eyes, I knew he was going deep.

Quite the amazing runs for both teams.

The odds of Fairfield (our kids) and Summerlin (your kids) reaching the US finals are about starting with the number '1' and adding 20 '0's.

They were the two best US teams left standing. Summerlin was sharper yesterday, and they earned the right to represent our country.

For the odds source in this thread, yes.
I explained why earlier in this thread.

How on earth is +5.60 -1 fair when put up against 1-10 ?

Lolol. I don't know how they can keep a straight face offering that.
