Despite a 1.38 ERA, Nathan Eovaldi is getting no love for the AL Cy Young (+1800) as the odds suggest it is a two-horse race between Tarik Skubal (-200) and Garrett Crochet (+150).

Eovaldi obviously lacks the innings pitched to be seriously in the hunt (111 IP vs 145/148 for Skubal and Crochet).

However, if he were to stay healthy down the stretch maintaining this pace and the Rangers sneak into the playoffs, do you think the voters would give him consideration?

Looks like the lowest IP for a Cy Young winner in recent years is Corbin Burns with 167 in 2021.

Well scratch that thought lol. Eovaldi and Crochet both give up 5 runs last night.

Can still grab Skubal at -200 at DraftKings. Might be worth it before the line moves.

Crochet got dinged last night; most baseball fans here in New England saw that coming when Cora sat him down a start for 'maintenance'.

The kid's been pretty much automatic all season. He's young, he's healthy, why would a manager disrupt his every fifth-day rhythm? He was rusty from the get-go last night.

Using the Wins Above Replacement metric and pretty much every other metric, Skubal has the Cy Young pretty much all wrapped up.

Crochet is just as valuable to Boston as Skubal is to Detroit.
Neither team would be sitting pretty in playoff positions right now without them.
Skubal's across-the-board numbers are much better than the other four starting AL pitchers, with a WAR greater than 4.0
