Howard Stern Show Canceled as Reports Claim It’s “No Longer Worth the Investment”
Howard Stern Show Canceled After 20 Years as Reports Claim It’s “No Longer Worth the Investment”

About time, XM should have pulled the plug on him ten years ago.
Stern's been nothing but an irrelevant hack for the past fifteen years.

I haven't heard "Did you hear what Howard said this morning" in at least twenty years.
He bled every penny he could get out of Sirius XM.

    1) I was never a "Stern guy" in terms of being a regular listener.
    2) I will give him props for elevating himself from pretty humble beginnings. Became synonymous with the term "shock jock".
    3) I have to jog my memory. Isn't Stern linked to Dana Plato's death (via verbal abuse)?
    4) He did become a pretty solid interviewer. Interviewed a lot of name guests (maybe the way Joe Rogan does now).
    5) I hear the same complaint from long-time Stern fans. They say that he was mailing it in and collecting. They say that he should have quit ten years...if not TWENTY years ago.

“No Longer Worth the Investment” translates as 'We could no longer generate the ad-revenue to justify Stern's contract.'

Guy made an insane amount of money. If you believe the numbers out there, they say $650Mill Net worth. Guy used to talk about money as if it grew on trees.

I would not be surprised if his true Net Worth is close to $1Bill. That would make him one of the 5,000 wealthiest people on the planet.

He is 72 years old with $650 million dollars. When is a good time to stop working in this country? Look at Hulk Hogan. Same age and he dropped dead one day unable to enjoy his millions anymore. You can't take the money with you when you kick the bucket.

this. It's very sad... 90's early 2000's some of the best entertainment around. Nowadays it's still entertaining but not from his woke interviews its all the people surrounding him that keep the show going.

He will be renewed just not with the contract he wants. Provably likely doing less shows this time around maybe 1-2 a week

Ask someone under 40 to tell you about his show - they have no idea who he is.

He’s about as relative to today’s media landscape as newspapers and Internet forums.

Why spend millions on producing a show that draws a higher share of geriatrics than the Lawrence Welk Show did at its peak - the ad spend for Consumers Celluar and Depends isn’t that much to make it worth the investment.

Move on Howard and do something different with your days to fill your remaining time here on earth - you rode the changing radio landscape and parlayed it into a payday from Satellite radio - enjoy your couple of decades of free money and
                    move on.

Completely irrelevant now but I did enjoy his TV show back in the 1990's - Had some very funny bits on there! That was in his heyday when TV access was all you had unless a local carried his radio show.

yeah feels like his show stopped being a “must listen” ages ago and just kinda faded into background noise.

Pretty much—his audience aged with him and never really got replaced by younger listeners, so it was only a matter of time before Sirius pulled the plug.

Yeah that sounds about right — the show’s magic now mostly comes from the crew, not him, so a scaled-back version wouldn’t be surprising.

                                  Fair comment:
                                  1) Some of the stuff you hear is just awful.
                                  2) In fairness to Howard, he got better as an interview. A lot of celebs felt very comfortable talking to him.

WNBC 660 on your AM dial became WFAN.

A 22-year-old communications hotshot fresh out of Frodham U did all the sports segments on the Imus program.

Totally agree—90s/early 2000s were classic. Nowadays it’s still fun, mostly thanks to the people around him. He’ll probably get renewed, just with fewer shows.

Howard Stern’s Own Staffers Turn On Him Amidst Reports His Show Is Ending – ‘It’s Been Hard…’

Not that I don't give much thought to Stern, but Howard Stern and Harvey Levin are the same, in that they're both disingenuous, hypocritical, misogynistic ass holes.

Think about it, both started out making a name for themselves verbally attacking women, and everything else to create a buzz, and then, when it was more beneficial to their careers and bank accounts, they conveniently did a 180-degree turn and started to kiss ass to the very same crowd they verbally abused.
