RIP, Cobra. Guy was a great hitter.

A little bitter-sweet that he'll be going into the HOF post-humously. Debatable on whether he should have made it earlier. He had the hitting accolades to be up there, and he was a 2x World Series champ. Showed longevity to do it with different teams.

IMHO Dave and Keith Hernandez got a bad wrap from the writers. Think back to the late 70s and early 80s. Anyone linked with drug usage (even ONCE) got a black-mark attached to their name. That stuck with a player. And the writers never changed their view on that.

Guy swung a mean stick. Will remember him for being part of the 1979 "We Are Family" Pirates.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

      2) Two OF assists in that AS game. Love a good two-way player.
      3) That video references the drug-use. Man, the media loved to hold that over a guy.

I never had a strong opinion on his HOF candidacy one way or the other. He probably didn't demonstrate dominance over a long enough period of time. One other funny clip that comes to mind when I think of Parker:

...This was a classic Met-Red game. Featured a fight and ejections. Watch Franco's reaction when he realizes that his Save just went up in smoke.

Cobra was a great nickname. He had the eyes. And his swing was a recoil, just like the Cobra tail.

No better judge of a player than the words of his teammates and players he played against.

And as STR pointed out, a great teammate.
You didn't want to f**k with Parker either, the dude was a beast.

Yeah, DP played the game correctly, he'll be missed.

How the Pirates chose 'We Are Family' as their anthem
