The FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 kicks off Saturday and SBR's Gary Pearson shares his Palmeiras vs Botafogo prediction in the all-Brazilian matchup:

Best bet: Botafogo to advance (+122 via FanDuel)

"Fierce Brazilian rivals renew hostilities in the Round of 16 at the Club World Cup. What more could you ask for?

Botafogo won last season's Copa Libertadores and Brasileiro Serie A.

Meanwhile, Palmeiras triumphed at the 2021 Copa Libertadores, finished second behind Botafogo in the league last season and currently sits in fourth place domestically, four points ahead of Saturday's opponents.

I'm giving the slight edge to Botafogo, who has one of the most stingy and well-drilled defenses in the competition. While their 1-0 victory over PSG stands out, it was a microcosm of how Botafogo consistently acquit themselves.

They have allowed four goals in their previous six matches and are undefeated in the last five against Palmeiras, winning three.

Their current form is impressive, too, with five wins in the last six. The only setback came against Atletico Madrid after they had already qualified for the knockout stages."

Best prop bet: Estevao Willian Over 0.5 shots on target (-125 via DraftKings)

"Estevao is receiving more hype than Taylor Swift's recent tour. He hasn't yet delivered like Swift, though. The highly touted Brazilian will join Chelsea at the tournament's conclusion and has shown glimpses of why the Blues forked out $70 million to secure his services.

While it's clear he's nowhere near the final product, Estevao reaches a breakneck pace with the ball at his feet, elegantly and seamlessly blowing past defenders.

He hasn't been nearly accurate enough at the Club World Cup, getting just one of his seven shot attempts on target. The main takeaway, though, is how easily he creates enough space to give it a go, and I'm hoping he's more accurate against Botafogo.

DraftKings offers -125 odds, markedly better than bet365's -250 and FanDuel's -210. I wouldn't recommend the prop with odds shorter than -150."

Benfica vs Chelsea prediction from SBR's Gary Pearson for Saturday's Round of 16 match:

Best bet: Chelsea ML (+115 via bet365)

"Chelsea lost their only match in the tournament against a team with a similar profile, falling 3-1 to Flamengo. With no intended disrespect to Esperance Tunis or LAFC, Chelsea's two victories came against markedly inferior sides.

Benfica's level more closely resembles Chelsea's, and the Portuguese team will push the Conference League champions.

While the Blues were much better against Esperance, they will have to shift into a higher gear against a confident, in-form Benfica. I expect them to do exactly that.

After losing to Flamengo, Enzo Maresca made eight changes for their final Group D match.

Some of the changes were effective, while others were not. While it wasn't a flawless performance, it provided key personnel additional time to rest and prepare themselves for the business end of the tournament.

Maresca will start his perceived best 11, including bringing Cole Palmer back into the side. It should pay immediate dividends, with the Blues winning a close one in 90 minutes."

Best prop pick: Liam anytime goal (+210 via FanDuel)

"Delap scored his first goal for the Blues against Esperance on a move that showcased precisely what he was signed for. He was swift on the turn, strong in possession, and finished with aplomb.

Scoring the first goal will be massive for Delap's confidence and self-belief. He's having an excellent tournament in most facets, making it clear that Nicolas Jackson has a gargantuan task if he's to retain the starting role. It's a task I don't believe Jackson is up for.

Delap's a more natural and ruthless finisher and has a seemingly telepathic connection with Cole Palmer. Look for him to bag his second in consecutive matches."

PSG vs Inter Miami picks from SBR's Gary Pearson for Sunday's Round of 16 matchup:

PSG vs. Inter Miami prediction: PSG win & Over 3.5 goals (-120 via DraftKings)
Best player prop pick: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Over 0.5 assists (+225 via DraftKings)

"Messi has achieved countless incredible feats throughout his career, and he continues to do so. However, If Messi were to find a way for Inter Miami to eliminate PSG, it would be his most improbable and miraculous 90-minute accomplishment to date.

The task at hand, though, seems beyond even someone with Messi's spellbinding power. While nobody can replicate what Messi has done throughout his career, PSG are stacked at every position, well beyond the starting 11.

They are a markedly superior side in every facet, which will make it almost impossible for Messi to overcome, especially at an age that prevents him from covering as much ground as he once did.

Javier Mascherano's team has made a valiant account of itself. Still, PSG has too many threats to combat, especially considering Inter conceded three goals in four of its six matches before the Club World Cup. And they're forced to play away from home for the first time.

PSG, meanwhile, bagged at least three in five of the last seven."

Flamengo vs Bayern Munich prediction by SBR's Gary Pearson for Sunday's Round of 16 match:

Best bet: Bayern Munich & Under 3.5 goals (+125 via DraftKings)

"First and foremost, the betting odds for this Flamengo vs. Bayern Munich fixture should be closer. Flamengo, trading at +390 via DraftKings, are being undervalued. Under Filipe Luis, Flamengo have lost three of 48 matches, a remarkable return.

They are solid defensively - allowing one goal or fewer in six straight and 10 of the previous 11 - and provide a consistent offensive threat, netting at least once in 12 of the last 13.

The weather in Miami should also favour the Brazilian side, although the humidity is expected to be somewhat less oppressive than usual.

My inclination is to back a 2-1 Bayern Munich victory. However, I'm unsure whether they'll be able to complete the task in 90 minutes.

The Bavarian giants were far too wasteful against Benfica in the group stage, but they shouldn't have that issue with their best 11 set to start.

I'm banking on Bayern Munich to eke out a 2-1 victory, but I've hedged the bet with Under 2.5 goals in case it's a 1-1 draw and requires extra time and, possibly, dreaded penalties."

Best player prop pick: Harry Kane anytime goal (+110 via DraftKings)

"You need your marksman to step up in knockout matches to be successful, and I'm confident in Kane's ability to inflict the damage required to get past Flamengo.

While it might come via an assist, the better play is to back Kane to add to his outrageous goals tally.

Kane has nine knockout-game goals for England, the most of any European player, and he bagged five in six Champions League knockout contests this season.

If you want a clutch goalscorer, Kane is your man.

While it could come via the penalty spot against a tenacious and smothering Flamengo rearguard, he provides an aerial threat, also enjoying matches against physical, chippy, and dogged defenses.

Kane should require one chance to get the job done, and he'll be prepared to pounce when it comes."

Should be +5000 based on how PSG are just playing with them like they are a high school level team.
