Blue, a few things:

1) In the modern linesmaking world, I do think the oddsmaker sets artificial caps on how big the opening lines are:
*Think about NFL as an example. Some games that would be -18 in the past now open at -14. MOST bettors don't like laying > -14.
*The truly dreadful teams may not be lined high enough.

2) Colorado baseball presents a unique challenge b/c of the altitude.
*I talked to one former MLB pitcher about this. He confirmed that the curveball doesn't bite as hard at altitude.
*Too many curveballs turn into meatballs in Denver.
*One needs to adjust to playing in Denver. And the Rockies often have wide home/road splits, just b/c the adjustment to road play is sizable.
