Funny how people think Shadeur was "owed" a lofty draft position. If any of those owners/coaches thought he was franchise changing quarterback, they would have jumped at the opportunity, much less wait until the 5th round. If Sanders is so great, he'll earn the bag in the long run, it's still there for the taking, it just isn't getting dropped in his lap right out of the gate is all.

What’s wrong with calling yourself the greatest? I’ve never met a winner that didn’t expect to win. Nor a loser that didn’t expect to lose. Winners learn to plaster positive affirmations all over the place. I wouldn’t want someone that didn’t think they were a big deal.

I'd agree for the most part but there's a big difference in being confident and believing in yourself as opposed to being arrogant and delusional. That coupled with some of the other baggage and concerns that he will likely bring along is a major cause for concern.

To have that type of attitude, you can get away with it if your talent is off the charts....not for a likely backup QB.

Belief in your own greatness and announcing it to the world without evidence are two different things. The silent assassins who sweat and toil when the crowds have dispersed and the cameras are off are typically the ones to fear. Shadeur just seems like he's inhabiting a character and hoping to sway believers with words rather than actions.

I played with a lot of arrogant and sometimes delusional teammates. You almost have to be to run through a wall, be a gunner on kick off, knock someone’s head off. If you’re not confident and believe in yourself, you can be killed out there. So that’s a prerequisite. But some guys are just wired in different ways. Some feed off of bravado and being an ass and being doubted. I can’t tell a man how to motivate themselves. It has to come from within.

The whole "if you're not trying to change your franchise, don't get me" and "history repeats itself" mantra at the podium was corny and smacked of immaturity. Apparently there was no shortage of teams that took his word and "didn't get" him at the risk of squandering a valuable pick and changing their franchise for the worse.

Like I stated earlier, plenty of GM's have rolled the dice in an attempt to land their guy and the search is neverending for many teams... so the fact that those same owners who have whiffed countless times before willingly let Sanders free fall into the 5th should tell you something. "Greatness" is both mental and physical so if Shadeur didn't even have the sense to present himself well in team interviews, perhaps there exists a mental lack that won't bode well in the NFL at the most important position.

Well you can rest assure he didn't fall to the 5th merely because of bravado. The bravado is likely just an extension of underlying character traits that gave owners pause to give him a huge contract.

I think front office folks did not want to deal with his dad. He’s only played under his dad and his dad is calling all the shots. Who wants to deal with that shit. Especially paying him guaranteed money if you select him early. The Browns selecting him in the 5th can cut him clean if he’s acts an ass. I think he’s going to come in humble and work his butt off.

Like I say, lefties are straight up evil with their funky angles and all.
Old timers tell me Koufax was the greatest lefty they ever saw. I never saw him pitch.
Randy Johnson needs no introduction, and the same goes for Kershaw.
I can make a case for Kershaw having a better career than Johnson.
Kershaw was impossible to hit; he had that slight hesitation right before delivery that kept most batters off balance.
