#5I love you, Mac and all, but JV's correct: Houston is the play tonight.
I totally respect both programs; as a matter of fact, the Gators were on a very short list of teams I'd have no problem with knocking off UConn.
Both teams can ball. Both teams deserve to be here, the difference is defense and coaching.
Houston +1.5

‘Houston lost to 3 teams Florida beat (Auburn, Bama and TT). I don’t believe in transitive properties but UF isn’t some pushover.
The Cougars celebrated that Duke win took the late night. How many times have we seen teams lay an egg after a huge, emotional victory.Comment -

#8Florida > Auburn.
Florida > Duke
Just because Houston > Duke, doesn't mean Houston > Florida.
Their guard is better than Flagg in end game situations. I think Florida has a chance to make Houston look silly.👍 1Comment -

#9One of my good friends is an assistant coach at UH. I know several players and coaches, so I won’t be too upset if they win. Sampson is a good man. I think I have a good read on both teams, watching them a lot this season. I think UF is the more versatile team. I said it in these forums. I felt the same about this team as the Gators in 2006. They are a complete team with no holes.Comment -

You started a new thread because you were flaming out in the other thread. Don't act we haven't seen this act over and over. Rest assured you would have posted in your MM thread had you been winning.Comment -

#23Yeah, Houston got all the hype for their outstanding defense (deservedly) but Florida was right there at a similar level. You could see how scrappy it was and how hard it was for either side to get good looks at the end. For me that's fun basketball to watch👍 2Comment -

I do have to think back on my Houston Coog history:
*1967: Hayes gets the Coogs to the Final 4. Hayes has a HUGE game, but they lose to UCLA by 15.
*1968: In the Reg Season the Coogs up-end UCLA by 2 in the Astrodome. Hayes is immense. That game is often written off to Alcindor's cornea injury. To his credit, Alcindor was not making excuses. Lew gave credit to Houston for playing better.
...Big-time revenge in the Semifinal. UCLA wins in a rout by 32.
*1983: Phi Slamma Jamma makes the Final Four. HOU beats Louisville (who was seemingly a Final Four regular back then). Coogs look un-stoppable.
...If there was one question mark for HOU, it might have been the coach (Guy Lewis).
...The talent edge was clear. NC State was on a Cinderella run, approaching midnite?
...Olajuwon was a monster. He was scoring but he tired in the thin air of Albuquerque.
...Lewis made a big mistake by leaving Drexler in the game last in the first half. Drexler picks up his fourth foul on a charge against Terry Gannon. Insane.
...Tie game, very late. Whittenburg is running out of time, throws up a desperation heave. It's way off line. Olajuwon said that he was worried about jumping up to grab the ball. Thought there was a chance that goal-tending could be called.
...Lorenzo Charles snares it and slams it home. BILLY PACKER: "They win it. On the dunk."Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?👍 1Comment -

I used to watch sports like that. Being a fan is great. Also, having a big bet on a close game is like a free cardio workout.

You got to feel for UH. 7 chances and can’t win the title. And the way they’ve lost. In the worst ways imaginable. Would you rather lose to Charles’ last second put back or last night, not being able to get a shot off. Ouch. Maybe worst losses than the Buffalo Bills. As a Browns fan, my heart goes out to UH fans.
Houston at least made the big show before getting JV'd.😂 1😎 1Comment
