Not a bad deal for Giants. He will be making less than Geno Smith and about the same as Justin Fields. Some of the guys in this list make so much more:

I'm a lifelong, cradle-to-the-grave Giants fan, it goes back to the days when Grandpappy Nasher used to shoot the shit with Grandpappy Mara at Aquaduct.

I disliked the news when it came across the feed a couple of hours ago, but the one-year deal makes sense.
It's a lock that the Giants draft either Sanders with the #3 overall draft choice, or they trade up (this is what the 'insiders' that I trust are saying) for the #1 overall draft pick and select Cam Ward whom the meatloaf for brains that is the New York Giants front office covet.

Wilson will probably be a 'bridge' starter and mentor either Ward or Sanders for a year.
I hope Russ realizes he'll be running for his life with that horrific Swiss cheese offensive line of ours that he's about to inherit.
Four different Giants QBs have been concussed since Eli retired, Danny Jones came within inches of breaking his neck scrambling for his life, Taylor, who played QB for the Giants for about a grand total of eight minutes, got crushed....

Not to mention that we have just one wideout with any pro-level talent, no tight ends, and a non-existent backfield.

Good luck with all that, Russ.

Going rate for a veteran QB. Low risk for the GMen. He’ll at least be a good influence on whatever QB they draft.

Sounds wiser than the Jets taking on Rogers like this was.

Rookie with Wilson to mentor him into a starter could be a sound plan.

Listen to the stories from the Seahawk veterans. Russ totally changed when he started dating the singer Ciara. I view Russ as a guy who has to make bank to keep his wife happy.

I'm half-joking about Russ. But I think there's some truth to it:

                            1) His college coach @NCSt told him that he was too small to play in the NFL. That led to him transferring to Wisconsin.*
*Remember that he also played Minor League baseball. So, baseball was a possible route as well.

                            2) He used that NCSt's coach knock as a chip on his shoulder. He played well @Wisconsin and was drafted by the Seahawks.
...He beat out Flynn, who had just signed a huge FA contract.

                            3) He was highly-motivated as a young player. Then he divorced his first wife.
...I don't think it impacted his play (too much). But he was on the prowl. He then met the new girl (Ciara).
...He's made a lot of $$ playing FBall. Surely more than he ever imagined. Seems like a totally different player to me, and guys don't get better after the age of 30.

Not saying your wrong. He is a robot When it's a recurring thing than I guess it's true. Thing is that you don't need all those people to know that. He is the only player that learned the playbook and all the football terms that there are. Then shows off that he knows them all.

So that I'm reading you correctly, by 'they' you mean the Giants' front office (particularly Schoen)?

During the interview process, the Giants should have been 100 percent transparent with Winston and laid out their plans and explained to Winston that "we reigned DeVito as our third QB as he knows our coaching staff and playbook, and we intend to have an open competition between you and Wilson during camp and exhibition preseason games, the starting regular season QB will be based on preseason performance".

Quite frankly, Winston is washed up. That's no knock on Winston; he was a wonder kid in college, but sometimes All-American college QBs don't translate over to the NFL, and if I were Winston, I'd be thrilled with an open invite for a shot at making any NFL roster, as no other "organaziton' (which is an oxymoron, since the Giants front office , mainly Joe Schoen, are anything but 'organized').

All that should have been explained to Winston when Schoen interviewed Winston.
Speaking of Schoen, he was at Cam Ward's pro day workout in Miami, and so was Callahan (Titan's HC), which plays into what a couple of NFL insiders were saying two weeks ago that the Giants covet Ward and are willing to trade personnel and/or draft capitol to move up from the #3 overall draft pick to #1 overall to select Cam Ward.

                                  *note*
What I just posted is hearsay I'm passing along, not facts, and since the respected NFL reporters that I trust weren't actually present at the Winston interview, even before the Giants signed Russel Winston, the inside scuttlebutt was they covet Ward over Sanders.
The point I'm trying to make is that rumors are not facts, and I am by no means passing this all off as truth. It is not, but since this information comes from people who make a living as professional NFL writers with a proven track record of getting things right, I have to at least consider what they are saying as truth, but I'll never intentionally pass off heresay or opinions as stone cold fact, and to do so is unethical IMO.

                                  As Tony Montana once said...
