Why doesn't McDonalds sell hotdogs?

I guess they have a core menu....having too many items can be unprofitable...all related to image, demand, and logistics.

Probably the same factors that made their pizza experiment short lived. Most areas have local places that do it well, and have an extremely loyal following.

Their hamburgers are bad enough.

Only thing I can imagine eating there is that Chicken Select, and only in the EU and UK.

I bet you hot dogs would have some success as a replacement to hamburgers in the happy meal.
I think McDonald's opposed to Burger King, Wendys, etc.. is more geared towards a younger customer, and kids on the whole seem to enjoy hot dogs more then burgers.

Hardees (Carl Jr's out west) tried that model, offering anything you could think of - burgers, hot dogs, chicken, tacos. It failed miserably and almost put them out of business. Luckily they got a new CEO that understood it is better to do one thing and do it well.

The Hardee's here in my town still sell hotdogs.. Never tried one though, so i'm not sure how they taste..

Yeah, I know. I just moved from Columbia (that is where you are from right). Still have a house there. When Pexder took over the company he focused on the burgers and really turned the company around. My Grandfather actually helped a couple buddies from the Country Club in Spartanburg, SC start the company. The original store is still there.

If you want a hot dog in Cola, go to Sandy's.

A&W has hot dogs, so does Dairy Queen. Those are the only 2 places I can think of...it is kinda strange...guess I never thought of it
