Is there a worse feeling than forgetting where you hid it???

I came back after three weeks abroad and I couldnt find the dime I had stashed. Found it yesterday. Man the house sure is clean now .

I misplaced a ton of money on the Pack to beat Denver in the Super Bowl. Never did find it.

I have found money in sportsbook accounts that I had somehow lost track of. That's happened a few times over the years.

This topic reminds me of when my brother lost a big chunk of hash years ago. There were some very tense hours. We looked everywhere three times. I remember bringing up the idea of training his dog to sniff it out. I had no idea how to do that but it seemed do-able. We were moving around ceiling tiles. The whole bit.

But I did eventually find it behind some books on a bookshelf.

As John said, the house sure did end up clean.

One feels like a retarded clown at least in my case. You know, looking in the freezer knowing darn well its not there. Did find some old valentine chocolates though...

It is called advanced alzheimer's, or predementia. Soon you will be able to wrap your own Christmas presents and hide your own Easter eggs. I'll hold your money for you if you are concerned.

Maybe. But I can still rememeber the closing line in the 1988 college opener for Texas at BYU(+14). BYU won the game 47-6.

I guess as long as I can remember Texas rallying to beat the unbeatable USC Trojans to win the National Championship I dont give a shit what I forget. It would be nice to rememeber my name but not as important as that game .

Yes, I gave my refrigrator to my nephew nearly 3 months ago and then went on my 2 month trip, he sent an email to me and says he has a surprise for me when I return! When I returned he called and came over and asks he if I had bought that refrigrator new or from someone else. I said new! He asks me if I had left anything in it. I thought about it and said money! Then he takes out the envleope and there is $5000 minus 15% in it. This is the money I had hid in my frig last summer and completely forgot about. The problem is I believe I had put 5K in it and I think he took 15% for his commision! I cant believe he did that!

I gave a him a free desk and frig!

                  I did this one time.

I forgot I put $2,300 in the glove box of my car when I went to a few casinos one night with some friends of mine. Hell... I not only forgot I had it, but the way I found it was even stranger really. I found it while cleaning out my car when I went to go trade it in which was roughly 2 years after the fact. Now that would have been a real costly mistake.

It was a pretty big chunk. I don't remember the exact weight nor its country of origin, but it was about the size and shape of a medium-thin paperback novel. That is why it took so long to find. We checked the bookshelf but if you didn't look really closely, it blended into a row of books.

After the fact we realized that, during the search, people had actually picked it up in the middle of a handful of books to look in behind, then put it back without realizing.

It was definitely worth some coin. My brother was sweating it out. I was quite the hero when I found it. It was a long time ago but I think I can guess how we celebrated.

Dead minds lose things, it means you cannot think and most of the time not too bright. I do not lose anything because my mind is working all the time. Hicks lose money, key, ect.

Been there, done that. It sure is a great feeling when it finally turns up.

This thread reminds me of the opening scene of "Rounders". I guess it's something most gamblers have in common.

I place bets for friends, and they place them for me. Every month or two, we do a full audit to see if everything is in order. In my last audit, I "found" about $8k (between misgraded wagers and non-recorded bets). Always a good start to NFL season!

Twice a year like clockwork something reminds me of paypal. Then I think "Hey, didin't I have some money in paypal from that crap I sold on ebay?". Then I log in and see that I do indeed have money in paypal.

Then I buy some crap on ebay.

I moved one time and actually found $800 in a pair of old pants that had been boxed up from when i had moved before 5 years earlier.

He's right, you know. Lots of us hicks out here in the sticks were losing our money all the time, just simply misplacing wads of cash. So we went back to the barter system and now we pay off our debts in chickens and animal hides. AMEX dropped me the very first time I stuffed a good beaver pelt in an envelope and mailed it to them in lieu of USD payment.

But we don't really lose our keys too often. Never have needed a key to start my pony up or get the old conestoga wagon in gear.

                                                This may fit the thread.

Many years back I went on a 1 Day Trip to Atlantic City and had a pretty good day. Driving home from the airport, I decided to have a small get-together at my apartment so I contacted several friends. When arriving at home, I placed the winning in between two mattresses. Waking-up in the morning, for the life of me I could not remember where I placed the money (winnings). Several months later, I woke-up in the morning and found several bills on the floor and it all came together. There was the money that I forgot where I've placed it. Apparently, as time went on, the mattresses shifted and the money slipped out.

                                                Just a share.
