these guys don't know what it's like to ever be poor and struggling to survive. so they can't comprehend my anger.

No, I dropped out of school and started my business with practically nothing and now can feel proud of what it has become and what it is growing into each week. If you knew a bit about me outside of the forum you would know I am a take life by the balls kind of guy. Do whatever is necessary even if a few corners get cut in the process. And I do not mean for this post to sound snappy as I have a lot of respect for you Mike.
My point is vegas dave should not put himself in a position where he just needs to survive. He comes from a good background and should be able to put his education to use and be a little higher on the ladder in life.

What did I say? If someone is in DIRE STRAIGHTS IT IS WORTH IT... no question. But VD is young with a lot of potential and has his whole life ahead of him and do not think he should lock himself into being an SBR slave for 45k.

Jeez guys, there is no one way to live. Each person has different priorities, people in the US tend to be more interested in material things, thats just simply part of the culture. Kind of a silly argument.

And yes, no question about the 2nd part of your post. I did not mean to sound snotty with my original replies, but I was talking from being in Vegas' position coming right out of a good college.

He had to move all the way out to Texas where he knew nobody, was planning on staying there for a long time as far as I know, he missed spending Thanksgiving with his family over the whole SBR firing. I don't think it went that well for him.

And $900 still sounds like a conservative figure for rent. But I am not familiar with Texas so will not post any costs as I would be guessing.
I think I read somewhere though that SBR provides housing, the "SBR House" or something. It was probably a joke but if it wasn't that changes everything.

You gotta understand though Richkas, 45k and he is NOT ALLOWED to do anything else with his time. JUST SBR. 45k is not enough money at all to live. At least here in NYC it isn't but I wouldn't settle for making 45k a year. Thats $865 a week and after renting a semi-decent place you are left with a couple hundred dollars. Cell phone bill, food, beer, clothes, cable bill/internet, insurance, gas if he has a car, etc etc etc make it where life is just a big break even (possible living in the red). Oh and I forgot one expense he would also have that dips into the 45k per year.... GAMBLING! Who knows what even controlled gambling can add up to in a year's time.
That would put me in major major debt. It is all relative, I do know that here in Santa Barbara that would put you in Poverty level.

It all depends where you live guys , I have a 3000 square foot home on 4 acres that cost $190K.
In some cities that would be triple or more , i know a lot of people that live on far less than 45K a year.

How can you have utilities $100? Do you steal the heat, electricity, water, cable, phone and internet from the neighbors? If you can get all 5 with $100 a month I'm moving with you.

I own a modest size house and pay $500 a month mortage.
APTs rent for $300 and up depending on # of bedrooms.
its all relative to the area of the country.
a house in NY that goes for million would go here for $100K

600 a month doesn't get a room to rent here in Santa Barbara.

Ah
I am out of my element then to argue rent costs. A hole in the wall around here is roughly 3k+ a month.
But I still think 45k a year is not what VegasDave is fully capable of.

SBR pulls in millions of dollars a year. They spent over 100k easy on the SBR Bash. They can afford to throw a mod 45k a year easily.
I pay my Supervisor close to 63k a year and I get poor quality performance out of her. It is all relative, I have friends that make 50k a year and they are happy and I know multi millionares around here that aren't happy. I do know if I made 45k a year I would be very upset and depressed all the time. I strived for more for my life though. Some people just settle, not me. I always want to make more and want more.
It would put me in major major debt if I made that amount.

When I said $300 for utilities I lumped everything together..not just heat/AC. If you look at my breakdown there is no cable/phone/internet package deal.
Do you mean heat and water bill is included with rent you pay to landlord? It is not free. What if you own a house?
