I do. I use Adobe Premiere, find it to work fine for what I do. Am going to be getting a new setup here shortly that will improve my speed and quality. My biz is simple, putting photos set to music for birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, etc...lots of fun and get good responses from people...many are moved to tears when they see their life flash before them. It's the kind of business you would think most people could do on their own but many have no clue how to do it. I have not reinvented the wheel by any means.

Nice. I'm currently building a computer to for Avid MC4. One of the guys I do contract work with uses Premiere at his place, it's not a bad program at all. I've worked with Final Cut at school and pbs, but Avid is another monster in itself.

Wish I knew it because I would have a full-time position then with a production co.

Lots of people here in Phoenix are looking for Avid op's...

That's good to hear. I need to get my head wrapped around avid and get the fvck out of ohio.

I like your photo videos that you're doing. I may have to borrow that for around here to make some extra cash. What do you charge? and How much time do you put in?

EXACTLY! Sure borrow this idea. It is easy $$$

I charge by the picture. I don't charge what I could, depending on if it is a person I know or not. Usually, these vid's are a surprise to break out during the party. I tell people to make it the last present they open and you can throw it in the DVD player and let the tears begin. When people in attendance see these when they were a little baby to the present (because I put the pics in the "order of their life". They are quite moving, really. Even if they are not old. I did one for my current bro-in-law (who was not my bro-in-law at the time). He turned 30 years old and he was a mess...crying to no end. You know, it's ok to do that, it's your life on video and it can't help but be emotional!

Back to pricing, I tell them minimum of 60 pics, each with a viewing time of about 5-6 seconds. Get about $1.00 a pic, usually about 2-3 songs on there (depending on length) and end up making about $100-$150 per video, production time included. Will you get rich? Not by a longshot. I work primarily by word of mouth and anytime I hear the words "birthday, anniversary, barmitzvah (sp?), etc" I pounce on the opportunity. I incorporate video sometimes also. My wife works full-time and makes more than I do but I fill in the needed funds when I can. Just LOVE what I do!

It's all legal as far as the songs are concerned, no copyright infringement because they are not for resale, they just become part of a person's personal collection.

Remember that the music is key in that it should be personal to the person. For example, maybe a favorite Frank Sinatra song that the person played at their wedding...always gets 'em!
