Been betting offshore for a long time and for the first time got a call at home from a sportsbook. Is that a good thing or a bad thing in your opinion?

#2I guess that would depend on which book called you and what offer they made you.Comment -

#4Never played at Diamond, top rated I guess. Last year I had a book call my house once a week for about 2 months. I appreciated the offer but it wasn't somewhere I felt safe putting my money. I was called once by Bodog years back, gave me a freeroll into a 100k poker tourney and a 10% bonus....which I took.Comment -

#5Whether it is a good or bad thing depends on your circumstances. Some guys here have families that they keep their gambling secret from. They would not appreciate the calls.
I love when sportsbooks call me at home. It puts me in a good leverage position. I can bargain for a bigger bonus or address outstanding concerns. Like when CRIS took me off their betPOINTS program, I got them to put me back on as a condition for re-upping. Another time, I had a book remove limits that had been placed on an account.
DSI is a very good book. I only wish they would call me with some kind of offer (but I think they are through with me).Comment -

#7I was just going to post... a phone call is an invitation to haggle. They are calling with an individual offer that they don't want to give everyone. If it's a book you are using, milk it. The sales guy wants to close the deal and will go to mgt. on your behalf to ask if he can fill your requests.Originally posted by MudcatWhether it is a good or bad thing depends on your circumstances. #8I use to get calls until I started taping every call I am on. One book kept pushing me to sign up so I threatened to send tapes to FBI, well the calls stopped.Comment -

#9Coach, The last time I received a cold call from anyone was from that damn tout Jack Price. Him and his recorded messages called me like 5 times in a 24 hour span. However he got what he deserved though, because he got sued by the state of Missouri for the sum of $15,000 violating the no calls list.
Now getting back to the DSI cold call. I might have accepted there offer if they called me with a decent one.Comment -

#11Never ever use your home phone when signing up for accounts online. I would recommend using your cell phone number and not a number to your house. Just my two cents.Comment -
