Pacman Jones thinking about becoming a pro wrestler
I wonder what his wrestling nick name will be. Maybe "the thug"

Pacman Jones thinking about becoming a pro wrestler

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones has agreed to sign with the Total Nonstop Action pro wrestling group.

According to WTVF in Nashville, the deal will be announced Tuesday.

Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season on April 10 by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for numerous run-ins with the law in just two NFL seasons, including some type of alleged involvement in a shooting at a Las Vegas strip club during the NBA's All-Star weekend in February. That incident left an employee of the club, ironically a former pro wrestler, paralyzed from the waist down.

Since entering the NFL, Jones has been questioned by police 10 times and has been arrested five times.

The TNA wrestling promotion is based in Nashville and is owned by Panda Energy but is a distant second in a realm ruled by World Wrestling Entertainment. The company is run by Dixie Carter and longtime pro wrestler Jeff Jarrett.

The signing of Jones is an effort to garner publicity for a fringe company in an industry already stained by implications of steroid and other drug use after the highly-publicized Chris Benoit murder-suicide case.

Gee, I'm guessing when Roger Goodell left the door open for an early return, pro rasslin wasn't considered.

You knew it was just a matter of time before he went this route.

Pacman to make first TNA appearance Thursday

Adam "Pacman" Jones is entering the world of men in tights wielding metal folding chairs.

The troubled Tennessee Titans cornerback, suspended from the NFL for the entire season after numerous run-ins with the law, has signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, the company said Monday.

Jones' first in-ring appearance will be for its "iMPACT!" show on Spike TV, TNA said. He also will appear in a pay-per-view show Sunday at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla.

Last week, Jones' agent said the cornerback would not actually be wrestling, but that he might participate with TNA Wrestling in other ways.

TNA spokesman Steven Godfrey said officials could not comment on whether Jones actually will wrestle.

"But he will be involved in a story line," Godfrey said.

Monday, Jones was quoted is USA Today as saying that wrestling is "something to do, to keep me out of the streets while I have my little off-time from my real job, and, I'm a big fan of wrestling, so I wanted to give it a try."

"I think wrestling is a great sport,'' he said, according to the report. "You don't really give [wrestling] much [credit] until you get in [the ring] and try it."

"It will help get my mind off a lot of stuff that I'm going through. It's sort of a way to relieve some stress," he was quoted as saying in USA Today.

In earlier reports on Jones' potential interest in wrestling, agent Michael Huyghue said he is mindful that Jones' NFL contract prohibits non-football activities that could cause injury. He said he had talked with the Titans about Jones' plans with TNA.

Jones was suspended for the 2007 season in April for conduct detrimental to the NFL, and he can have his case reviewed after the Titans' 10th game, which is Nov. 19 at Denver.

He has been arrested six times since being drafted by the Titans in April 2005, including June 22 when he turned himself in on two felony counts of coercion in a Las Vegas strip club fight that left a man paralyzed in a triple shooting.

Last month, the league denied Jones' bid to attend training camp.

When he was suspended, Jones was given several requirements to meet, including devising a community service program that must be approved by the NFL. The league declined to comment Tuesday on whether Jones has come up with such a plan or if it had been approved.

His agent is checking with the registrar at West Virginia University to see if Jones can take courses toward his degree online because he plans to stay in the Jacksonville, Fla., area and work out during his suspension.

Jones won't start losing his $1.3 million salary until the first game checks are issued in September.

Gee. And there I was hoping an unfortunate injury would befall him.

That's the great thing about professional wrestling. You get a "sport with a story".

If anything it will feed into his ego. Maybe this time he will "make it rain" backstage w/ hot wrestling groupies, which actually sounds like it could be good for him.

OMG... Did you guys see the latest Pacman Jones saga. It's actually comical.

Without doing much wrestling, Pacman wins tag team title

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Adam "Pacman" Jones can call himself a pro wrestling tag team world champion, even though his only wrestling move was to cover a wrestler knocked out by someone else.

The suspended Tennessee cornerback has a legal agreement with the Titans to avoid any physical move that could leave him injured. So Jones left the dirty work to tag team partner Ron "The Truth" Killings in TNA Wrestling's "No Surrender" pay-per-view Sunday night against Kurt Angle and Sting.

Jones twice refused to tag in and join the staged match.

The turning point came when Angle's wife appeared ringside, refused to leave and then slapped Sting. She went down as if hit when the wrestler pointed for her to leave, and her husband came over to investigate.

By the time Jones finally tagged in and got into the ring, Angle put a move on Sting that allowed Jones to cover the wrestler for the victory.

TNA wasted no time promoting the victory, putting a picture of Jones and Killings with their championship belts on its Web site.

Jones was suspended for the 2007 season in April for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. His case won't be reviewed until after the Titans' 10th game on Nov. 19. He has two felony coercion charges pending against him in Las Vegas for a strip club fight and triple-shooting on Feb. 19.

TNA, which stands for Total Nonstop Action, is a Nashville-based pro wrestling league.
