favre to werder: "return is highly unlikely"
i love watching this guy play but man is he stupid or something?

he is saying again that he is unlikely to come back. this guy needs some lessons on how to handle the press. the appropriate answer is: "ed, i just lost in the nfc championship gm and i feel like crap. i have no idea right now what i'm gona do. let's talk again in 2 months about this".

instead, he says a return is "highly unlikely" which sets him up again to be chastised if he DOES in fact return.

as i said, i love watching favre play, but i'm starting to believe he is simply a dumb guy.

popularity of likable manning = more $$$ in jersey sales and endorsements

polarization of favre = less $$$ overall

He is coming back, he is a ego maniac and has nothing without football, he is too dumb to be an analyst or in studio as he has zero verbal skills.

First off, Favre gets very little of his jersey sales money, if anything. I can't find the exact revenue breakdown but I've found enough to know that very little goes to the player, and when the marginal income is practically irrelevant.

Second, let's presume he does get an amount that is significant to him from jersey sales... there's no way to measure whether his waffling is actually affecting sales or not. His Vikings jersey sold at record breaking pace.

He has his Superbowl... one is enough for some people to consider him a winner. Plus, he has enough clutch play over the years.

the fans are completely torn about him and he cares about that way more than you think he does

montana, elway, brady, manning, not to mention unitas and otto graham, are in a completely different class of quarterback than this guy, and most people who understand football and the history of it are aware of it

trent dilfer and brad johnson have super bowls too, winning 1 SB is sometimes the product of being on the right team
the packers were very talented the 2 yrs he played in the SB. favre is a very good qb, a tier 2 qb going to the HOF

but he's no montana, elway, brady or manning. he's just not

As it was last year it is probably a ploy for more money and to get out of training camp. He will be signed by Minnesota the last week of training camp

Just because he signed a 2 year contact does not mean he will continue to waffle about retirement. He has already started. A very low chance he wil be in training camp. But a couple million more dollar and some more headlines and maybe he will un-retire and show up the last week of camp.
