I had my Cartier watch stolen and reported it to Cartier. They do have a data base of stolen watches by serial #'s.

Most high end watches are usually made of out real gold .When you try to pawn a watch of that value usually the employees are train to file a small test sample from the underbelly of the watch usually some place where you wont notice and then take hydrochloric acid and put a couple of drops on the gold in question if it dissolves then it is a fake it the gold holds since gold dosent react with anything on this Earth it will be deemed a real watch. Since Pawn shops arent allowed to take what they believe is stolen property they will give the item in question back to you and ask you to leave. These ar the two reasons for the file marks

I BOUGHT A few Rolexes and they said the serial numbers never touched, but I CAN'T TELL YOU IF THEIR HOT I got them off a guy at foxwoods said he needed the money I PAID 1000 DOLLARS FOR ONE AND 1500 for the other. they are beauties white with diamonds The guy checked them out all he said they were real. so these watches could be hot. so I have to take then to an outlaw repair shop. no fine fancy jewelers for me o.k

If it has a picture of Aaron Carter on the dial it may be fake.

1ster, not sure but when I bought my Rolex I went through a shop here in SB. I double checked it out as well, I don't trust a lot of people. There are fakes out there.. When I bought my Dad his Rolex, I paid two shops to look at it. Be aware!
