12 Year Old Sexually Assaulted

A troubling case out of Madison County.
A 12 year old girl is allegedly sexually assaulted by a man four times her age who paid her for the sex.
And that's not all- police say the girl's babysitter did nothing to stop it!
Cops tell Fox 2 the man and the babysitter are on again, off again boyfriend and girlfriend.
The allegations are stunning to law officers as well as people who live next door to the guy who police say had sex with the little girl.
Sergeant Mike Dixon with the Madison County Sheriff's Department said, "It’s a very disturbing, disgusting act. It's despicable to victimize a child in this sense."
48 year old Larry Westwood faces two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.
Cops say Westwood sexually assaulted a 12 year old girl twice- July 18th and 25th- at his home on Breckenridge Lane near Granite City and paid the girl one hundred and 40 dollars.
It gets worse.
Detectives tell us 20 year old Amber Salts was babysitting the 12 year old both times, brought her to Westwood’s home, stood by and let the sex happen and then accepted 50 dollars from the girl after the first encounter.
Salts is charged with pimping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Dixon told us, "To know that a caregiver allowed a 12 year old child to be victimized in such an atrocious way is alarming and disturbing."
Neighbor Alma Reynolds says Westwood keeps to himself- his blinds always closed.
She's angered by what allegedly happened behind those blinds.
"I would just like to beat him half to death," Alma told us.
David Porter lives next door to Westwood.
He says he never let his grandkids go to Westwood’s home because he didn't feel right about him.
David said, "I’m really upset about it because I really didn't know that this stuff was going on."
Sergeant Dixon added, "This child likely will never recover from this type of act. Psychologically, I’m sure that she'll carry issues as it relates to this encounter for the rest of her life."
Dixon says the girl told a family member about the abuse and the investigation went from there.
Investigators tell us the girl's mother knew nothing about the sexual abuse and is not suspected of any wrongdoing.
Westwood was jailed on a 150 thousand dollar bond.
Salts' bond was only 75 hundred dollars- her charges are misdemeanors.
