firstly- moneyline is just picking the team to win. expressed parts of 100: if it says -200, youre paying 2 to win 1......if it says +200, youre paying 1 to win 2.

ok check this out.....whether youre taking a favorite or an underdog- theres a safer way and a greedier way.

favorite minus points pays more= greedier....moneyline (just to win)= safer
underdog plus points = safer....moneyline = greedier (pays more

theoretically- you have to win a much higher percentage of your bets to make it worth having to pay so much to win a relatively less amount. bet 100 on a -200 favorite and turn it into 150 dollars....then you bet 100 dollars again and lose....even tho youre 1-1 on these identical bets....you are now down 50 dollars overall.

depending on your level of skill at selecting two favorites correctly- you can place one bet that is a combination of both predictions to increase the payout. this is a parlay. obviously with more games needed to win, your chances technically decrease but you can make one bet on these two games instead of two separate bets. then if you lose, then you can try again- your success rate and ability will determine whether or not this is the option for you. if you go 1-1 with THIS type of bet (at -200)...you will be up .25 "units"

these games are handicapped by professionals and favorites win very often....every now and then you can find an underdog that is a sleeper- for reasons of having been beat recently, being on the road, being a traditionally bad team and its towards the start of the season. sometimes a star player returns for your team or is suddenly out for the other team. sometimes a team you wanna go against has been beating up on bad teams so they get too much credit- you should try to figure out/understand why a line is like that. definitely do your own research and analysis always.

if you dont want to give up any points but youre pretty sure a team is going to win, then thats where a moneyline can prove prudent or beneficial.

Don't bet big favorites. You never know when a -900 team is not going to show up.

It takes balls to play double digit dogs on the moneyline, but they hit everyday! I think 2 did tonight

Very true. For newer guys when taking a favorite on the money line, your break even % is determined by the formula:

($ risked to win $100)/($ risked to win $100 +$100)

          Say you played -186 chalk, in this case 186/(186 + 100) = .65

Over the long haul it will be very easy to be below 65% on these plays and that's just breaking even. Be very careful with chalk ML's. Good luck sir.

Yeah more or less...you can still make some money if the Vikes win though (assuming you have equal money on each, or more on the Vikes)
