For those of you who have got DUI/Wet wreckless

How much did your insurance go up? Im 20 years old and was convicted of a wet wreckless and am now going through the process to get my license back( need to enroll in classes and show proof of insurance to be issued a temporary license{work, school} ). I was paying $131 dollars for a 2002 toyota camry pre conviction and will be driving a 95 chevy tahoe now. Ive had 1 ticket and 1 accident( non fault) in the 4 years ive been driving. I kno most of you will say just go get a quote but what should i expect? ive heard of rates tripling but i dont wish to pay any more than $200/month even if i have to go with a cheap company.

About 3 fold insurance companys consider you a risky driver and you just gave them the ammo to jack the rate up on you expect to pay somewhere in the 675 Per 6 month range

I was drinking but i was 100% sober, who the **** runs 2 miles when drunk. I had like 2 beers and then took a run.

Takes a while for your body to be affected by the drink depending on tolerance height weight and other factors. I stand by my statement

get a motorcycle/ scooter/ bicycle......cheap to insure with the DUI.

You might be looking at $400/ month now on anything with 4 wheels, esp. being 20.

You can't do much damage ( except to yourself) on a bike.

Luckily you didn't get evaluated by me as I would at the minimal have referred you to outpatient drug and alcohol treatment....injury which is alcohol related, dui with destruction to property, regular blackouts and your not even 21

Only looking into liability, of course. Ill prabably buy a 300 dollar car and insure myself under liability on that vehicle and get my dad to insure a car under his name that i'll drive. Thats what ive always done.

did a quick quote on progressive and came to 1380, not horrible for a big company sure i can get better on a cheapo company.

Here's the problem....you had stopped if I recall for at least 5-6 hours prior to getting into that accident. You BAL had to be .3 or above before you passed out. Car or no car....you're going to kill yourself.

I'm fairly certain there's some very shitty insurance company out there that will charge you around $150-200 just for liability, but your more likely to find something around $200-$400. You are now considered a high risk driver, since Wetreckless is a major traffic violation and this is a great time for the insurance to drop the hammer on you. Since you only got 4 years of good driving, that won't help matters either. On the brightside, atleast it ain't a DUI which is worst financially in the long term.
