My thought exactly and I believe that this is true. Remember that when the Colts pulled their starters the score was still only 19-15, Colts by 4. Yeah Jets points were, if I recall correctly, produced by special teams and defense but they were solidly in that game.

In addition to agreeing with you on the defensive point....I have trouble imagining a better "setup" for a game, where getting a team motivated to win is concerned, that is.

Perception was that Colts (and then, later, The Bungles) "let the Jets in" because NYJ would be an easier matchup in Playoffs than the alternative, Steelers.

I personally hope that ESPN commentators remind NYJ of this...not that I think they've forgotten but I hope ESPN and especially Herm Edwards (he's on ESPN right...or NFL Network?) will drive this point home.
