Public Apology to Bean Town Jimmy
    Beaner,

I've now had two e-mails on my contribution to "chasing" you off. And thinking on it, and rereading my notes on your "Nigerian" MLK Day thread, I guess I did stoke the fires to get you moved and pissed off.

Even though I am partly "Nigerian" (with a great-great grandfather from CuraƧao) and a little subject to getting pissed off by racist sh*t, I offer an apology as I am a peaceable sort. And I realize that low-IQ degenerate Southies probably don't really know what they are saying as I have a first cousin who is white, bigoted and pretty slow; so I get it.

    So please come back.

You can even call me a Nigerian, and in turn I'll call you a low-life, race-bating degenerate pig.

    That should do the trick.

Have not been to Curacao in a while. Had a good time at the Kura Hulanda and hanging out there back in the sportsbook heyday. Ahh the good ole days.

John, I was there two times when I was a kid, and basically remember the beaches and all my multi-hued relatives but little else.

      Glad you liked it.

My opinion matters little but since it's free to give and easy to ignore I'll chime in.

I don't know the history of BeanTown as I haven't been around here as long as others. I will say that in a decent world someone doesn't get a pass simply because they have a history of contributing. That said though even though BeanTown often used the term Nigerian when refering to black people and while there may have been a real discrimination undertone to his comments it can be said it was all interpretive.

Myself as much as I fight against real racism have made jokes, deliberate steriotyping comments for effect about various races and cultures. I do it regardless of my company though. If I am hanging out with a group of black guys I might make an off handed joke about fried chicken or watermelon. If I am hanging out with a group of Jewish guys I will ABSOLUTELY make some sort of remark about being a tightwad or something to the effect. I don't hang out with that many gay people but on occassion have been in the company of some and I have no problem teasing them about the various jokes associated with being gay. So I understand the humor involved with the various races and religions as well as sexes among us. Making jokes, even of a sensative nature is one thing. Maybe offensive to some and maybe in bad taste as well. I do believe though most would agree there is a very distinct difference between making a joke, being stereotypical for comedic purposes or just to bust your friends balls is vastly different than drawing assumptions or making rationalizations based on a persons skin color, faith or sexual orientation.

BeanTown may or may not be a racist but the way he presents his post are in no way the same ilk of one Bettilimbroke. That is by my own barometer though and may differ greatly with others. That is why I can understand why without SPECIFIC guidelines it can be difficult to judge fairly what is offensive and what it not there by deciding what should be in the Private Zone and what is fair game for Players Talk.

Wal, I just noticed your record on NCAA football this year. Are you a modeler? Or was this a "by hand" experience?

Dutch it's kind of a hybrid program. I have a data formula that generates lines for games and then I cross reference my generated lines with Vegas lines and select games based on a pre-determined difference. At that point I cap research those games to decide on final plays. Not perfect but for the past two seasons over 60% so I'm cool with it.

Trying to do the same thing in college hoops but not doing the extra work after the lines have been generated. Obviously the success isn't the same but the effort isn't either.

wal: we've got a program that almost automatically generates 57% - 60% plays on up to 30 plays per week. Would you be interested in comparing your selections against ours next year?

Sure Dutch. I started doing it late in the season in my thread. Every week after I have ran the numbers through the program I post all generated lines early in the week. Plays come later but the lines are up and everyone can watch and compare. We can certainly work together next season. I am open to working with anyone, time permitting.

All the data runs are done Wed or Thurs of each week. There's 3 of us right now comparing outputs from our various models and 'capping techniques.

We don't post much as we don't want DrBob to steal our picks.

Sounds cool Dutch. My stuff will be posted in my thread but if you want we can correspond via PM's or email anything you aren't publishing. I make all my stuff available though. Football season is the only time I really contribute anything around here and feel obligated.

Jimmy is a bit of a throw back Archie Bunker type. He knows we are not going to allow everything that he likes to rag on in Players Talk. No other forum would either. I think he will suck it up and be back. But he will not get treated any different. Keep the punches up in Players Talk. If you need to fire some low blows head down the hall to the Private Zone.

BTJ should be back shortly. I expect him to add an apology of his own as this would just as fair. SBR reacted fairly quickly to what happened and I can tell you from experience that not a lot of other mods or forum-policies would sneak a public apology to a member questioned of doing something wrong. Good move SBR, your turn BTJ.

A part nigerian saying that BTJ has a low-IQ because he doesn't like nigerians. . Where on an IQ test do you lose points for not liking a race?

According to your stupid American "rules", you're black if you have one drop of "Nigerian" Blood, dickwad.

And yeah, if you're a bigot, you're an idiot by your politically correct American "rules" too.
