Be cautious of books hanging funky lines!

During times like this when the house takes a beating, players should look for signs of distress. One of these signs could include gambling on high volume events like Monday night foots, a last ditch effort to stay afloat.

I would like to invite players to take part in a, lets call it, neighborhood watch for weak numbers.

For example, SBRlines is showing tomorrow's game at 3.5 across the board. If you see a sportsbook hold at 2.5 with standard juice we might have reason to worry, especially at a book that usually stays at the mrkt avg.

good point bill... we need to do something like that. because, books could always be looking maybe to invoke a bad line rule to stay afloat too. if the line is off market like that, if they are gonna get hammered on a game. wasn't it nine.com just tried to do that this past week unsucessfully.

Are you reading the posts before answering BBD? What Bill Dozer talks about has nothing at all to do with the bad line rule.

If I was a book I would have been adding at least -2 on all public favs., like Indy I would have had it at -17 as some books did, I would have had SD at -14, TB -6, Jax -4-5, Bears -8, and so on. The lines have been off for weeks and I would rather be proactive than just sit there and get my butt kicked!

Where so mnay books make a mistake is that you shouldn't be cloning lines if you can't clone the action. IF you hvae indy at -15.5 and you get action, so move to 16 or 16.5. DOn't be looking at Pinny or cris or the greek to see where they are at. They might be getting two sided action and may not have need to move the line.

Well run books should never be losing too much. Poorly run books not suprisingly get killed.

You cant do that unless you are a guy with a private book that has few people. Bookies do that all the time but if a book that is seen by players gave a different line...people would bet the fack out of it until it was right back where the other books were if not lower... all you did was open up to be middled and if you stay on the weirdass numbers you put up and take lots of bets on that you are gambling more than anyone. then... when it all starts to average out you are losing when sportbooks win
