Can anyone name someone who is a household name that did so little in their field of endeavor but had forever after become a household name because of it?A guy in sports who did alot in a short period of time and got hurt,a character in a tv show that got cancelled in a short period of time or an actor,actess,politician or singer?

Probably the most famous is James Dean the actor who did just a couple movies and got killed in a car accident.I was thinking more on the lines of someone that lived a long time though.

I think Sara Palin will have gotten alot of mileage out of being that person because she's got another 40 or 50 years to go.

Christoper Cross kind of fits in that category, and likewise this is one of the things he is associated with today, that sort of meteoric trajectory, so I am not sure if he fits your bill or not, are you looking for people for which this is more subliminal to public perception or is it OK that some hullabaloo has been made of his lack of followup on the early promise?
