Until he gets beyond the Sweet 16, I am not sold on him. Dixon gets out-coached when it matters most.

good point. I'm not sure he gets outcoached as outhorsed. He coaches mediocre talent deep into the tourney. But no one wins it all without having 2 lottery picks in your starting lineup (except syracuse recenlty) Pitt gets solid recruits. but they never get the top top recruits.
guy has set records as far as hitting milestones in wins in one of the toughest conferences in one of the toughest eras for that conference all time

That team he had last year with Blair, Young, Fields, etc. should have made it to The Final 4 at least.

how good did the experts say his team should do this year? how is he doing? how did he do with the junior national team? what do guys like jim calhoun and jim boeheim say about him, how has he done in the big east tournament in his career. again bottom line, is he doing a good job with his team this year? who is doing better?

also you do realize he DID win the Naismith coach of the year award that year, with 4 future pro players.

so if he duplicates or comes close to matching that feat, with most likely zero future pro players. I'd say he deserves to win the damn thing again

If I'm not mistaken, the "experts" had them finishing 8 or 9 in the Big East. I agree that Dixon is doing a great job.

last night's win, should lock Pitt into an ncaa at large bid. they own the most impressive road win of the year IMO as well

do they pick this before or after the national championship? I think if kentucky wins it all, or even just gets to the finals that Calipari will get it. Dixon won't get it (even if he deserves it, since he won already) unless he takes this team to the elite 8 or beyond. and they just don't have any one guy with enough talent to get them there. I won't be suprised if they lose in the first round. young team in the middle of being rebuilt. Dixon has done a fabulous job, but next year is really Pitt's year

Forget about him winning it anymore.

Guy continues to beat teams with way higher caliber players. He learned well from Howland, but now its his system and he is surpassing Howland. All his players completely buy into what he is selling.

NO head coach in Ncaa D-1 coach at a large school in history has had as successful of a first 7 seasons as Dixon has had. and he has done it with about 1% as many all-american recruits as teams like Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Michigan St. ect

Very good game by his team today, not what I was expecting.

he always has them well prepared for big home games. Hopefully by next year he will have learned how to win games past the sweet 16. its just tough when you don't have the talent. Last year was the first year his vetern talent was equal to other teams in the sweet 16 and he "only" got to the elite 8
